Hello all!
My brother is currently going through a bad situation... he is an alcoholic.. drinking about a US Pint of Liquor per day.. I am not sure what to do with him, however, he doesn't hide it, and he admits he does have a problem.
I am curious and reaching out the community for the best ways to battle it.. I am sorry if it is inappropriate, however, I am in dire need as he is living with me now and I am trying to help him combat it.

As someone that was raised around alcoholics and nearly got into myself a few years ago in my personal opinion only he can make the choice to put the bottle down like smoking. Addiction is like a light switch that's always stuck turned on. As always professional therapy is a right step towards rehabilitation reach out to people he'll actually listen to if none contact local PDs if you're that worried if he's unresponsive. They should have let up hope professional wellness checks and can lawfully stop someone if they feel the need.

The whole family suffers from it. But he refuses any help or treatment. Luckily he is very receptive. He is currently dwindling down the drinking from a US Pint to a US Half Pint. Then keep going from there. He is doing well and is coming off of it. No withdrawal symptoms so maybe it isn't as bad as I thought? But I am glad for that too.

A distant cousin of mine had the issue months back. While he was in treatment his doctor recommended him some home remedies too. Drink a lot of water and fruit juice, chew basil leaves, eat healthy diet, get regular sleep of 7 to 8 hours every night, consume a spoonful of ginger oil mixed with honey listen to soft music or follow some stable hobby, volunteer in any NGO or shelter homes. This is what I can remember right now. You can try these. Hopefully it can help.

I honestly think he should get a professional help. There is no way you can deal with it yourselves only. I feel sorry for you and wish you a lot patience. He is now checked into rehab.. I couldn't handle the stress, however, he understood, and according to everyone there, he is doing well.. I am so proud of him.. I worry so much..
