Astrophysicist Neil Degrasse tyson has many videos on education, this is one of the more powerful ones Maybe if there were more people who think this way, the world would be a better place
Has anyone seen anything on this level ? As a child, were you allowed to experiment, or to discover things on your own, with the blessing of your family
For me, largely yes, though i did take things apart to see how they worked, my parents just said "oh well, you can't use that any more" I'm still curious, i still take things apart, though now i can put them back together.

I made a six foot long parabolic solar collector in our garage that turned water into steam in three seconds when put outside. Solar hot dog cookers were also a thing. My brother and I made stop action army men movies. My dad and I spent time trying to calculate the height of a light pole based on its shadow. I collected pond water and looked at it under a microscope and grew frogs from tadpoles. My favorite subjects in school were biology and physics, and I’m the daughter of an engineer, so yeah, there was always something to discover.
