People often wonder what the future will be like and how the world will look different 100 or 200 years from now. And they picture weird, far-out things like flying cars, moon colonies, and forum software with built-in pizza makers. But no, I think one of the things we'll actually have in the future is heated roads that can melt snow and ice in northern cities. You know how the Kansas City Chiefs' stadium is heated so it can melt snow that lands on the field? A couple hundred years from now, every major city that gets significant snowfall is gonna have that. Maybe not on all the sidewalks (that would be too expensive) but certainly all the major roads, and perhaps even the minor streets in residential areas as well. Sorry, Mr. Plow, but you're gonna have to find work elsewhere. Back when I used to live near Chicago, Ohare airport had heat in the spiral ramps between levels in their big parking garage. That was 30 years ago. Even keeping those ramps just above freezing required large amounts of electric and was expensive. Really don't know how that will work with the miles of roads contained in a big city. They're already struggling making ends meet, even with high taxes.

You couldn't have taken a better pic? lol Here in Raleigh NC we have been snow-starved for some time. We used to get 2-3 storms per year that would drop a grand total of like 8-10" per season. Lately it's been more like 0-2 storms dropping 2-3" per season. Real rough for snow lovers like me. I was in New Jersey during the historic 2009-2010 winter season, and boy do I miss that. Two 2' storms with a few 6-12" in between. That was g-l-o-r-i-o-u-s
