Another phrase that has been used more recently is GSRM (Gender, Sexual, and Romantic Minority)

And just to clarify; gender identity and sexual orientation are, in this context especially, different ideas.
Gender identity is how you view yourself. Do you view yourself as a man, a woman, or somewhere in between? Or no where at all?
Sexual orientation is who are you attracted to and in what way?

So for example, I am transgender. I was born in a male body, but internally I feel female and so I have transitioned to have my physical body match my identity. I am female.

I am bisexual, which means I find myself attracted sexually and romantically to both male and female presenting individuals.

one more ignorant question, why isn't there a term for gay men. (like lesbian is for women)

I wish they did not lump Asexual and Ally together, as it diminishes Asexuals, something that is already a problem. Asexuals are often even denied by some of the LBGTQI populations, which is so hypocritical.

Yeah. In most circles I'm in, everyone's adamant that "ally" isn't part of the acronym (which makes sense, ally isn't a sexual/romantic preference lmao). I think the ally part is getting phased out as time goes on, at least I can hope. I do love seeing all the additional support for ace/aro people every year, though! I've never been directly told I don't belong in pride, but I see it out there sometimes. But I think things are improving.

One of these days I might actually get out to a pride event, but at least here it's always so hot. Always nice to see pictures, though.

Homosexual usually implies a male/male attraction even if it can be used for men and women.
