Things to do on the forum that are "fun".....

Okay.  My forum is an RPG forum.  Not trying to advertise, I'm just throwing that little bit out there for information purposes only. 

I'm thinking of adding some "fun" things to do on my forum in the form of little side quests that people can do on the forum.  Some tentative ideas that I've thought up already are....

- (For students only...)  Members can compete in the Ludares tournament once a year provided they can get a team together prior to the start of the tournament.  Ludares is a game where each team has to get the ball across the line on their side of the field.  This is much harder than it sounds because the ball starts to shake harder and harder the longer a person holds on to it so you have to constantly pass it back and forth between the different team members on your team because you can't hold on to it for very long.  Not to mention, portals open up on the field and if you enter the portal, it can spill you out onto another random spot onto the field, which can either hurt you or help you in your cause to get the ball across your line.  All the while, the other team is trying to get the ball away from you so they can get the ball across their line.  It's a lot of back and forth.  This would be something that the "student" characters can role play on the forum and the team that wins the tournament will win the trophy.

- (For students and adults...)  Members can look for "gemstones" around the forum, kind of like a scavenger hunt.  The paranormal faction with the most gemstones at the end of the year will be declared the winner.

My question is.....what other "fun" stuff can I do on my forum?

How about an area for out-of-character content? Members can talk to one another as humans and learn more about the people behind the character.

^ out of character content is the lifeblood of an RP forum. everyone is already on the forum for "fun" (under the assumption people are RPing for fun, which I feel confident is saying an overwhelming majority of people). your OOC area is going to be where people get to know each other, whether through non-RP discussions (like favourite songs, current events, a new TV show) or through "activities" like forum games (like post-a-thought, or person above me, etc).

But tbh, you don't have to like... go majorly out of your way to create non-RP things that are "fun". By and large, the fun I get is from RP. It's nice to get to know the players, but I'm not going to be spending a majority of my time in OOC areas if I'm on a forum.

I already have an "out of character" section on my forum where people can discuss the books that the RP is based on and there is an off topic area there as well.

Just to note on the highlighted part - there is a plugin for that (if you didn't already know).

I did know that there is a plug in for that.  It hasn't been implemented yet because I'm still working on the smaller details for this.
