I'm super excited as they're laying out fiber cables. (Spectrum); A friend of mine stated that we will be getting 1Gbps down, and 500Mbps upload. Which will be amazing! Currently running everything off my phone, and a crappy fixed wireless internet, that sometimes gets slower than dialup. Lol.
Is there anyone else with this expansion already? What's your ISP? Speed?
Or do you have something completely different? We were gonna get starlink. But they're not in our area yet. But with fiber optic coming way out here in the country side. It won't even matter now.

Dang y'all got Spectrum up there too eh? They are huge in NC but they don't have a great rep here. We also have AT&T fiber and Google Fiber as option- we switched from Spectrum to Google probably 3 years ago and GF will be a must have whenever we move next. I'm getting ~800mbps down, which is amazing considering how much **** I have running right now lmao. I am glad to hear that fiber is coming to the rural areas a bit tho, such a game changer.

We've had spectrum (charter) since I can remember. They were just cable TV back in the day in the 90s and earlier. We just had AT&T. But we had SBC global as phone service. Then ATT bought them out. But yeah, we have had spectrum the last 17 years as internet provider here in Wisconsin. See, I don't understand why people have such issues with spectrum. I've never had an ounce of issues with spectrum. Even their tech is a 10/10 over the phone and when they come to the house. I did have issues at one point in 2017 when I lived in the city. However, ATT screwed everything up, and crossed wires, where any normal user wouldn't notice it. But I certainly did as a streamer and youtuber. Lol. There was a bunch of noise on the upstream which caused me a lot of issues. Lol. But they didn't stop and worked on it diligently until it was figured out and fixed. After that. I never had an issue. I sadly had to cancel because where I moved didn't have spectrum, or even ATT.

For us, Spectrum's (previously Time Warner Cable here in NC) big issue was hidden charges and they kept ekeing up the price without explicitly saying anything. The connection speed was mostly fine, but nowhere near Google Fiber obviously and Spectrum had a decent amount of outages. Is Spectrum the only game in town for you guys? I know in many rural areas a company has a literal monopoly with 0 competition.

I know in many rural areas a company has a literal monopoly with 0 competition. Yeah I was paying 75 a month for at the time 60 down and 5 up. But now their 75 is 300 down and 20ish up. But I never had hidden fees. That might have been that TWC was cheaper than spectrum, and when they bought TWC out. Their prices went up to spectrums normal rate. I only had internet. I dont care about cable or a telephone in this day and age. Lol. But yeah, they probably assumed everyone would know the price hike. They definitely should have made a notice on people's bills or on their account on the spectrum site. Poor communication they have with that I think. Spectrum bid and won our area. Over 1 million dollars. Which I'm all for. 1Gbps down and 500Mbps upload all for 100 a month after the first year's new customer deal. Not to far is also a smaller company. But they want 100 dollars a month for 100Mbps down and 10 upload. But they had no plans moving to our area. We have their fixed wireless internet, and its mostly trash. Fast enough to wait 30 minutes for Gmail to load. Lol. On clear sunny days when the corn isn't in front of us we're good, and get 5Mbps and .90 upload. When advertised speeds are 25/10. The same tower this connection is being sent to. Is the same tower my phone is hitting at 5G speeds of 140/50 with the same company. ATT. I'm on cricket though, for 60 the same we Pay for this home net. Lol.
