So I was about to go to bed around 10:30 my ring camera pops up someone's at your door never seen the dude before I repeatedly told him through my camera bro you got the wrong place I could tell he was intoxicated or on something so I did not want to answer the door. I was slightly freaking out and had a good neighbor on the line just in case he was trying to turn my door knob to continuously get in. I had the neighbor phone the police since my anxiety was so high the drunk stood there for about 30 minutes I wanted to be on the line with someone I trusted and not just hang up to call. Scary stuff but the police came out and handled it. Thank God I have no idea what I'd do if he got in. I recognize calling 911 should've been first thing but situations like these you don't always think clear enough.

User 180565 is taking donation That is a scary experience. Do you have a PANIC BUTTON on your car keys? I leave it by my bed during night-time just in case something like that happens, so I can set it off and scare the daylights out of an intruder. Glad you had your neighbor to help.

That's really scary. I'm glad you're ok, but remember to call 911 first if you're ever in a similar situation.
I once came home to find that someone had cleaned the dust off of the window from the outside so they could try to see in. That freaked me out for a long time afterwards.

I'd honestly rather call a neighbor that I know is closer and protective of others first it's a sad thing to note in life but a police arrival could be 15 minutes+ depending on the area you live in knowing you have someone next door willing to protect you is such a grace of piece of mind. I'm not saying don't call 911 but call whoever you feel safe first knowing that's reliable. Being neighbourly really pays off. Alert whoever you need to then call 911 if you feel more threatened of the event.

Alert whoever you need to then call 911 if you feel more threatened of the event. Hey, if you're 100% sure that theneighbor is going to rush in and successfully protect you should an intruder get in, then go for it. If you're not 100% sure of that, then you've just added additional time to the 15mins law enforcement could get to you. Now that this has happened, it's the perfect time to reevaluate your possibilities. What would you have done if he had broken in? The first action is the most important. You need to remove yourself as quickly as possible and only then should you call anyone. Is there another way out of the house? A back door, a window, a fire escape. Make your plans now, test them out, think about them and revise them if they don't seem feasible. If there's no way out, you should make sure there's a room with a locking door and even a way to barricade it. Many times, if you call 911 and there's an intruder, the dispatcher will stay on the line with you. Also, if there's a stranger at your door trying to get in, don't reply to them. Set off the alarm, call the police.

Set off the alarm, call the police. It all depends on what makes you feel the safest and whose readily available to help you with that protection and the severerity of it. Granted not much the police can do if someone busts in guns blazing asap to your location since it still takes them time to get to you.
