I'm making a custom page on my forum that has a layout with news "cards" on it. I want the cards to show how many posts are currently in the thread topic that the news card is linking to. I wanted to know if there is some sort of variable I could use to reference a thread's number of comments to put on the cards.
Is there a way to pipe in the number of posts from a thread into my html document?

Just an FYI, but an URL to the page where you have created these "Cards" would probably get you a lot more responses, since it would then take just a few minutes to determine if the request is possible after seeing how you implemented these "cards".
It takes a much longer time (and effort) for someone to create their own forum then try to guess how these cards are being created and come up with a solution if at all even possible and more than likely that "guess" would be wrong. Any solution stemming from that wrong guess is a waste of time and all that effort; that transaction is too imbalanced. The effort does not have to be balanced here since in most cases, the helper is the one doing most of the work, but it is really unfair to waste anybody's time like that.
It's like sending your cousin to the doctor so the doctor can diagnose what is wrong with that cough you've been having since you both are about the same age and come from the same gene pool. Make an effort to take yourself to the doctor and leave your cousin out of it.
Show your work, and give the URL.
