Twitter jail

I woke up this morning to find that Twitter somehow thinks that I was encouraging self harm and therefore they have suspended my account. Where? When? This is utterly ridiculous!

Probably algorithms at work. Words isolated and taken out of context. No human input. During the peak of the Covid pandemic, several pro vaxers were ‘jailed’ along with the anti-vaxers and conspiracy believers. The AI couldn’t decipher what was being said or in what context, just picked out words in isolation. They also have similar problems with images and jokes.

Same with FB. On a regular basis, friends (and myself on one occasion )will be puzzled about their warnings. One was punished because of something in a Wordsworth poem.😂

Plus, when I did as they said, I was presented with a Start button that, when clicked, did absolutely nothing.

Next my tortoise will be banned from Instagram because someone will think it's child exploitation

Yeah. The lesson is, "twitter cops don't know squat." With all the horrible posts I see on that site daily, it is absolutely absurd that I was suspended.

Honestly with the direction twitter has gone the past few months, plus overall the past few years, I'd consider it a blessing myself. I decided to deactivate and permanently remove my account a few months ago. No business left on that platform for me.

The worst thing about the internet is any sort of algorithm that automatically locks you out of your account without any human intervention, especially if you're an established account holder who has been using the service for several years without any problems. I guess they figure that the lost revenue from people being driven away from their website isn't as large as the cost they would take on if they were to hire a human staff to review such incidents on a case-by-case basis. So unfortunately, this problem likely won't be going away any time soon.

I already feel like an old-timer pining for "the good ol' days" of the internet, back before we had all this poorly-programmed AI that assumes you must be a bot or a rule-breaker if you post something containing a specific word or if you navigate the website too quickly.
