It’s been a very long time since I’ve had to ask for financial help (I think I was 22 and needing to borrow for my first rental deposit. Paid back as soon as I got my first couple of months wages) but I know I could ask anytime if needed. I talk to my mum a few times a week and my dad maybe once a week, so they’re always on hand for advice or emotional help etc. I also know that if all went wrong and I needed somewhere to live, my mum has kept a bigger house than she needs in case any of their adult (32-38) kids need somewhere to go.
I don’t have kids but I can’t imagine not wanting to keep helping them as they became adults. I have a young adult nephew and I still help him out occasionally.
