Forum URL: bigballofyarn.proboards.comThe dark theme that I had was never finished. So, I finally decided to create a proper one. The blue theme had a lot of edits that I didn't want to redo. I figured it would be easier to copy the blue theme and then edit the colors. So, it worked to an extent. I was left with a very nice dark theme with all the features I added to the blue theme. HOWEVER.... I followed advice given by Craig in another thread. This is the area I am viewing. The only thing that changes in the preview and in the finished product is the border color. Setting the background color to black or any other color does nothing. Setting it to a suggested image does nothing. Nothing changes in the preview on the right and nothing changes if I click save and view the inside of a board. My boyfriend and I can only tell that something is overriding this setting, but we can't figure out what. With my forum have 20 years worth of upgrades, I'm wondering if it's something to which I don't have access. This is not set as the default theme. So, I understand if I have to wait for an admin to help me. Thank you.

bigballofyarn, when I view your Dark theme on my phone in Mobile version the "New" bubble is rounded and charcoal coloured but when I switch to Desktop view the bubble is boxy and pale blue, the same as your "Blue" Default theme. Which Is very weird. Mobile Desktop

I'm wondering if you perhaps have some css in your stylesheet which is affecting it. It would explain what harry saw as the stylesheet doesn't load on the mobile view. I created an account so i could take a look, but you have registrations restricted. That's fine, one of the admins can take a look

Cheers Towards the bottom of the stylesheet you should find this: .new-icon,.new-icon a{color:#FFF !important;} .new-icon{background:#70a5ce;} Remove that and see how it looks.

Craig , Genius! You're awesome. All I need now is a darker banner. Thank you. We couldn't figure out what it was at all. Edit: While we're at it, if I want to change the color of the bar that's under the page numbers at the top of a board or thread, what should I be changing? I thought it would be the navigation bar, but perhaps something is overriding that change too. Thank you.

bigballofyarn - You referring to the Action bar? Admin > Themes > Advanced Styles & CSS, Visual Editor tab. Then down to Forum > Body (Content) > Action Bars > Background Color.

Scott, Yes. I achieved what I wanted. Thank you. It's been so long since I've made a theme that I don't remember where anything is anymore. Thank you. I appreciate the kindness of everyone here. No question is every considered dumb and I genuinely appreciate that. I'll post back if I have additional questions.

vank, I feel like it made things easier. There are a lot of edits, adjustments, and features in my main theme that I wouldn't want to manually add to another theme. Despite forgetting where some things were, this wasn't a painful process. I don't intend to make extra themes though. I feel like a light theme and a dark theme are sufficient. If you disagree, you are free to have any variety of themes that you choose. I'm just not the type of person who looks at themes on forums. I do put a lot of sites in dark mode, but that's all.

I host my theme images within the dark theme itself.

Which section of the editor would I go to to change the color of text here? Where would I go to make the little right arrow black rather than white?

Which section of the editor would I go to to change the color of text here? Where would I go to make the little right arrow black rather than white? Body(Content) > Containers > Text > Primary Text color*secondary text color may refer to the color for alternating posts That should take care of both colors but with the caveat that without access to the actual theme, there is no way to identify any alternate CSS rules that may override that base setting due to higher specificity selectors. Conversely, if you want to target those specific areas without affecting the base text then a higher specificity rule must be constructed.

Chris, It's already set to white. Are they destined to be the same color? I suppose something is overriding this. I don't exactly want to make a half-done theme my default theme. I understand if that's the furthest you can help. Thank you!
