I want to make a button that produces this when I press it:
Can it be done?

Could someone please say something about this? A button that puts the word "Vote" on the screen once pressed doesn't seem productive. Why not just put the word "Vote" on the screen outright? Why press a button to do it? I suspect there is more of an outcome you want for this, but you have not adequately outlined it, thus the reluctance to reply. It may appear lucid and sensible to you since you have intimate access to all the parts in your mind, but it needs to be conveyed in order for someone else to understand it. The first thought that popped into my head when I read this was, "what would be the motivation behind this?". Keep in mind that this is a voluntary transaction. You need to sell your idea so whoever fills it is convinced they are not wasting their precious time on a poorly worded assistance request and code for something completely different than the requester intended.

I also don't understand the goal. Do you want a clickable image? If you want a button, where do you want the button to appear? In the quick reply? Somewhere else? Where do you want the image to appear after someone clicks the button? On top of the button? In a post? Please specify what you want.

I am creating it for a mafia forum, and I want the tag [vote][/vote] to appear when a button is pressed. When players type a name in between vote tags, the output of VOTE: [player] will be produced. So, for instance: [vote]Chris[/vote] would give the output of VOTE: Chris
And I want it to be seen in the window that opens when someone clicks 'post reply'.

If all it's outputting is text, wouldn't it be easier if each user just types in their reply?
VOTE: WanderOverYonder VOTE: Owen the tortoise.
Or, if there are only a handful of people for whom you can vote, would you be interested in using the poll feature within threads? I apologize if I'm being incredibly dense. If I am misunderstanding entirely, I will leave this for someone else to handle. Best of luck.

Can this code be modified for proboards use, however?
Code: <span style="padding: 3px; background: #FFFFED">VOTE: (PARAM1)</span>
