So i"ve decided to try my hand at an online business. Just for extra cash which I plan to gain through affliliate/advertisement programs, and eventually maybe sell the brand after so long. Yea, I know, big goals, huh? lol. I already own a small construction company for my main source of income, so I believe this is more of "throwing it at the wall and seeing if it sticks". Or more less, "an experiment".
So my idea is a buy/sell site in my local area. It seems Craigslist has pretty much died down, facebook market seems slow as well. And well the big places like Ebay and Amazon, well ... idk, but I'll try not to let their stature discourage me lol.
But yes, simple as that. A place where locals can sell/buy items/goods and personal work/creations. I was going to start the site here at Proboards since this is definitely the place where I feel most comfortable and familair with.
So, any pointers or opinions 'concerning my particular business idea' at all would be great to help kick me off on my venture. Thanks so much

Not to be a downer, but I feel Facebook Marketplace and local buy/sell pages already have that area cornered.

Someone I know has sold hundreds of items on Poshmark in the last year. I never used the site/app myself though. Have you looked at that one?

They know we have a group of Poshmark resellers who go to the thrift store and buy clothing to sell on the site, so they are starting to mark up the prices on the good pieces, pricing them out of reach for those who usually benefit from low price thrift store clothing. I guess people make good money doing it, as long as you have an eye for quality and what sells.

I know this is not exactly the same, but I feel that it's similar. Hanson puts a lot of band merchandise in their fan club store. Many items are limited edition, seasonal, or just don't restock. There are fans, so peers of other fans since we have to pay to be part of the club, who buy things in bulk, and then put them on eBay for 5x the amount of the initial cost. Buying out places like Goodwill though in order to profit online seems like a really low thing to do, even if it makes sense from a strictly business perspective.
