cloning my sight for a template for a new site?

Is there a way to copy my existing forum, so I can use it as a template to create a different sight with a new forum topic, login and everything? 

I want to keep the original forum running but use a copy as a template for a new one, changing the colors, names of the sections, content and all.

short answer: no.

long answer: you can copy the THEME of the forum -- this is just colours & layout templates -- and install the theme on your new site. nothing else will transfer over, and you can create new sections / content from scratch.

if this is what you want, go to admin > themes > theme manager, you should be able to hover over the theme you want to copy; click on the name, and on the following page you'll see a tab that says "Export". Go there and select "Export to Computer".

this will prompt you to save a .pbt file. this is NOT a file you can open, just save it.

then, go to the new forum, under admin > themes > theme manager and click the import button. select the .pbt file you just downloaded, and upload.

don't forget to then select the theme in your profile so you can see it in action.

I decided to not do that. 

There are a lot of threads so it would be more trouble than it's worth. I didn't want to use the same colors and graphic design anyway. 


I decided to use a template from Proboards that I like instead.
