Nope. Generators should be kept 20 feet from the house, which would put it in our neighbor's yard. Is that a local law and/or based on the type of generator you want? A few of my neighbors had "home standby" generators professionally installed, but they're all right next to theirs houses. Edit: I don't have a generator and know nothing about them. No, it's a safety requirement. Generator exhaust can be toxic.

First in 2019 earthquakes and now flash flooding, I am thinking the dry lake beds at Edwards and China Lake are not too dry now! Stay safe Jim and Marian.

First in 2019 earthquakes and now flash flooding, I am thinking the dry lake beds at Edwards and China Lake are not too dry now! Stay safe Jim and Marian. Thanks! There are a lot of washed out roads, so supplies may be hard getting to town. They declared a state of emergency for our town, so hopefully the town can get some funds for repairs. You can see some videos of the destruction of our town, and the road to the next town over (Trona), here: www.facebook.com/IWVweather and www.tiktok.com/discover/ridgecrest-california-flooding There are some Tiktoks of people kayaking in the middle of the road, LOL.

I was born in Tilbury, Essex, England in 1949 and I can remember the Tilbury floods, Jan 1953 and I was only 4 years old, I can remember looking downstairs and seen my father on a door floating around checking all the damage as the water was over waist high, the funniest sight was looking out our bedroom window and seeing some guy in a tin dustbin floating down the street with a stick as a paddle.

I'd recommend something like this since gas generators are slowly phasing out there's always going to be a use for them though. Duracell Portable Power Station 300W (292Wh/120V) Lithium Battery Backup Portable Solar Generator (Solar Panel Sold Separately) for Power Outages, Home Emergency Kits, Camping, Backyard, and Outdoor a.co/d/fiHiBb1Not majorly powerful but enough to plug in a few electronics if a power bank isn't enough. I've got something like this. It's a power bank made of four separate big batteries that I can use to power some tools (leaf blower, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, etc.) but when I put all the batteries in the charger it becomes a big backup battery. I think it's enough to keep something like the fridge going for a little while if necessary, someday I'd like to get a backup battery for the whole house, but those are still super pricey. I keep seeing the forecast changing on when the rain is support to start and the severity of the storm. Right now it's making me feel a little overprepared, but better that than the alternative I guess. I would be interested in looking into something like that sometime when I can afford to. Even though I'm in a separate small building from my mother's house which already has a generator, I would have to bring my laptop down there with me whenever we lose power here since my building is not connected to it. This means that all computers and servers in my room are down until the power comes back on.
