Way back in the early 1700s, a powerful magician placed a curse on his village after being outcast for being accused of using evil magic. However, he didn't realize just how powerful he was. Instead of only placing it on the village, he placed it on the entire world. He had intended to control and manipulate the people of the village that outcast him, but it didn't seem to work, and the method of controlling the village - dolls that looked just like the leadership of the town - never appeared in front of him as they were supposed to, and so angrily, he had tried again, and again. It wasn't until he eventually gave up and began traveling did he realize what he had done.
When we fast forward to current day, magic isn't really a common practice anymore. The direct descendants of that magician, however, are still taught the ways of magic and unlike most puppeteers, can have full control of the dolls they own, and can even read their minds. Some say they can read anyone's mind, but that's not a proven fact. What is a fact, is that in the small city of Hidden Hills, WA, where the curse was first placed and where the magician's descendants still live today, is the separation between dolls and puppeteers so painfully clear, and only a few, puppeteer and doll alike, dare to go against the current heir.
