Remember back in the early 2000s where the only way to access your forum was through computers? I remember I wanted mobile devices to be a thing to get on the internet through the phone! I thought that would be cool and I could talk to everyone I wanted!
DSL came about, made it easier and faster to access forums! I got a PSP (PlayStation portable) and I was able to access proboards and my forums, albeit really slow, and usually unstable.
Now we have cell phones, and the new web standard for websites to be much smaller. As back then on a small device. It would show the desktop version.
What are your experiences from that time to now?

I've been online since before the internet when we had BBS access as our online experience in the late 80's, so there have been HUGE changes that I've seen. I still use my PC for most of my web browsing because I find it easier on my arthritic hands than holding a phone for long periods of time. When I do go to my phone for browsing, I find that the small design makes you miss so much, as the full sites are pared down to make them accessible on a phone.

Well we came from using horses to modern day cars with computers inside of them trying to learn how to drive themselves. I don't understand those people being so afraid of advancements in technology. I remember how annoying VGA ports were and how easily the pins could bend, being a kid you weren't paitent with that stuff. Even modern cpus are moving away from pins. Type c has been such a welcomed change. You could transfer 200GBs worth of files in under an hour now days without having to break the bank. We have 1.5tb micro SD cards at around $150 2tbs are probably going to be announced next year. Advancements in hardware and technology is really what keeps me wanting to see another year. You really don't have to be rich to experience a good time on the Internet anymore. Just thinking about coming from a steam engine to having all of our personal data in your hands is still exciting. Just the fact this use to be hard drive shrunken down to micro form Software wise, I believe every operating system has its place, the activate windows tag isn't even that annoying to be fair. Software has improved great even in android people pass them off as mini computers I hardly use my PC as much anymore because of this just for file stuff mostly. I remember back in highschool being given palm pilots and most as kids would do found ways to run Pokemon yellow on it or line rider giving teachers more of a reason to yell at us. Now days kids are just given iPads to take home and have all their homework done online. If I was still in school I'd probably say my dog peed on my iPad or something. But yeah it seems like every 15 years things change drastically in computers but the olds still useable.

I remember one of the first times I ever used the internet was for Google in its very early days back in 1997... but due to the look of Google, not much has changed on the surface alone!
I agree with Marian above on how mobile sites don't give you the full experience.
And let's not forget forums... the fact that there are now so many different ways of talking and engaging socially on the internet and on apps, that forums have lost a lot of the appeal and market they once had. Sad but true.
I think my biggest downside however, is the fact its ever-growing... for me (everything related to the internet in particular), it's too big now and I often get lost, but that also comes with age and stubbornness and what you're used to.

I use my laptop more than my mobile because my big fat fingers can't handle the small keys on my mobile, I feel like a right duck with my spelling mistakes.

When I do go to my phone for browsing, I find that the small design makes you miss so much, as the full sites are pared down to make them accessible on a phone. Yeah, that would definitely make sense to continue using a PC. As long as the information isn't being hidden, and the mobile portion is designed really well, I don't think it would be a problem. I've ran into some poorly designed AA websites, that designers, and programmers are paid top dollar, only to find the UI really really bad. Well we came from using horses to modern day cars with computers inside of them trying to learn how to drive themselves. I don't understand those people being so afraid of advancements in technology. But yeah it seems like every 15 years things change drastically in computers but the olds still useable. Agreed, and VGA sucked, anything that has small pins sucked. I bent my FX 8350 processor, took a razor edge, and bent it back, but super annoying. lol. I love the advancements we have now, its wonderful! I remember one of the first times I ever used the internet was for Google in its very early days back in 1997... but due to the look of Google, not much has changed on the surface alone! I agree with Marian above on how mobile sites don't give you the full experience. Chaz I think if it works, and easy to use, no need to change the UI. I am on PC right now, on a 1440P monitor, and the forum doesn't widen with the screen, so it's smack dab in the middle of the screen. So much empty space compared to mobile. I find this often true with places like facebook, and many other sites. So much empty space that could be easily filled in. Most monitors now-a-days are over 1080p. Even on my left and right monitors that are 1080p, there is still a lot of white negative space. So, it's not really missing much mobile to desktop if a site like PBS is formed for 720p resolution. I use my laptop more than my mobile because my big fat fingers can't handle the small keys on my mobile, I feel like a right duck with my spelling mistakes. Hahaa, makes sense! my fat fingers hit the wrong buttons too! If it wasn't for auto correct. It would all be jumbled words. lol.

I still mainly use my computer. Maybe it's partially out of habit from so many years of doing so, but I like it better. I use my cell phone for convenience when away from my PC, such as to order something on Amazon when I am thinking of it, or to check a work email or chat msg, but it will never be my main source of access to anything on the web.
I mostly use my cell phone for apps that I cannot have on the PC and taking impromptu pictures of the sky, trees, etc. :-)

I type like a speed-demon on my keyboard and I hunt and peck on my phone. I hate it. I could never use my phone for all my computer needs-it would be difficult to writie my reviews, and edit them on just the phone screen.

Now, this is my wife's phone, I bought it for her around 2001, I think it was, it fits into the palm of my hand, nearly all the keys are un-readable as they have all been wiped off yet Liz can use it with ease and is fast with her fingers and no spelling mistakes. I won't touch it, my fat fingers more or less can cover 2 keys on it plus I would not have a clue which key is what letter of the alphabet, the wife is very sentimental and swears by it and won't get an up to date one.

Is it still operational!? Those Nokia's though are a tank! They can withstand a lot!

Still going strong, Liz has another one in her bedroom drawer which is older than that, only does messages though but still workable and I think it is a Nokia.
