I have a question about site plots in RP forums. We're looking to update our site plot after the admin who used to write them stepped down. Having an open-ended site plot was what they wanted, nothing that would affect the individual plots of our members. Our admin team now is more open to bringing some drama into the site plot but I wanted to see what others really look for in a site plot before I set to writing it.

Our admin team now is more open to bringing some drama into the site plot but I wanted to see what others really look for in a site plot before I set to writing it. Honestly, it doesn't matter. The split is pretty 50/50 between pulling people into the main plot or having it happen around the characters. The main thing is to decide what sort of story whomever is the owner of the forum wants. If that's the person who stepped down (I hope they officially relinquished the account to their successor here on the Support Board), then it's up to the successor and/or staff team to write what their vision for the site is. Members will follow along with basically anything if you *keep their interest*. So yeah, it's not a matter of open ended or not, it's a matter of can you keep it going? Most RPs fail when the core plot is both uninteresting and the staff do nothing about it, or try too many things too quickly because they're trying to find the lightning in a bottle over pushing for quality and sustainability.
