Mine has changed a lot! When I was younger, my mom listened to hiphop/dance rap music, and 70's/80's classic rock. However, as I started to discover new music genre's, metal, to heavy rock, like Godsmack, disturbed, etc. Started listening to the local rock station, started to listen to the Emo, screamo music. Through the years mid to late teens, I started listening to techno, trance, and industrial. Around my early 20's, I was starting to listen to songs mashed up into Dubstep, happy hardcore, then a friend/co worker introduced me to Hardstyle/hardcore music, which is faster BPM's in EDM.
I listen to all of these Genre's still! Over 7000 songs on Spotify in a playlist. lol. I tried listening to pop, country, RnB, Jazz, and while they have nice rhythms, not something I'd listen to everyday. lol.
How has your tastes changed since being a kid to being an adult?

Your taste buds change once you get older, once upon a time I could not stand cooked carrots, raw onions, beetroot, and a lot of other food items but now I have a taste for them, especially carrots, the wife makes her homemade soup and I love that with carrots and the rest of the vegetables. ๐

How has your tastes changed since being a kid to being an adult? My initial taste in music developed in the 70s and 80s where you mostly had a choice of hard rock, disco, or country music where I lived at the time. So...I went country. However, over the years, as music became more accessible than just radio, I started listening to a variety. From Lady Smith Black Mambazo, Celtic, opera, classical, music of the African rainforest pygmies (the name for it at the time), Pop and others, I sampled a broad range of styles and genres. One of my favorite things to do when I moved to Washington was to go to Bumbershoot, a monster of a music and arts festival, where you could see eclectic and popular acts all day long for just one admission price. I miss going to that festival. I'm still not a fan of jazz, heavy metal, or rap, though.

Carrots definitely were something I didn't like as a kid, but like now. lol. Also, this is about Music! But that is a good idea on a food tastes thread. haha. Yeah, vinyl, 8 track, cassette tapes, aside from the radio is mainly how you could listen to music, technology advancing, now we have a way to listen to TONS of music from around the world, from many many of the thousands of Genres out there.

Not really. I still like and dislike the same types of music. Maybe I have to wait until I am even older for my tastes to change lol

I listen to more kinds of music than I used to, but I don't know if that's because my tastes have changed or if I would have always liked this new music and just never heard it before now. My favorite genres are still the same, and any minor changes in things like favorite bands have more to do with how the bands have changed and not my tastes.

Lol, sorry, I thought the thread was about food, my whoops Lol My music tastes have never changed really since I was young and 3 of my favorites groups and always will be are... 1. The Beatles 2. The Bee Gees 3. ABBA Haha, no problem! Heard all but the 3rd. lol. But, I love music, and listening to all kinda of music as long as it doesn't feel disruptful, and flows good, then I am all for it. Not really. I still like and dislike the same types of music. Maybe I have to wait until I am even older for my tastes to change lol It's taking me 30 years to fully figure out what I really like. Others are depending on circumstances, and friends, family. etc. Not really. I still like and dislike the same types of music. Maybe I have to wait until I am even older for my tastes to change lol It's the same for me. I listen to more kinds of music than I used to, but I don't know if that's because my tastes have changed or if I would have always liked this new music and just never heard it before now. My favorite genres are still the same, and any minor changes in things like favorite bands have more to do with how the bands have changed and not my tastes. Yeah, makes sense. I still love several artist from the 90's-2000s. lol.

I wouldn't say my tastes have changed so much as they've broadened. I still like a lot of the same music I liked as a teenager, but there's also way more stuff I listen to now than I did back then. Fifteen years ago, I mostly listened to grunge, '90s alternative rock, '70s classic rock, and some mainstream metal (Metallica, Megadeth, etc.). I still listen to those things, but in a smaller capacity. In my late teens/early 20s, I discovered underground music and started to dapple in the likes of Built to Spill, the Jesus Lizard, Brainiac, Modest Mouse, Pavement, Fugazi, Dinosaur Jr., Guided by Voices, and all that good stuff. I quickly learned that there's an ocean of great music beneath the surface of just what you hear on the radio, and that the peak of music didn't begin and end with the rise and fall of grunge. My interest in discovering new music was recently reignited during quarantine, when I realized I could use all of my extra free time to listen to all the music I've ever wanted to hear, so that's what I've been doing. I've now got a collection of over 600 albums, and according to RateYourMusic, I've listened to over 3,400 albums (about 2,700 of those were during the past two years). So the expansion of my knowledge of music has definitely come a long way, even if my fundamental taste hasn't changed a ton since I was a teenager. What do I like now? Well, on my RateYourMusic profile, I listed these as my favorite genres: Post-Punk, Noise Rock, Garage Punk, Post-Hardcore, Art Punk, Grunge, Riot Grrrl, Power Pop, Slacker Rock. What does any of that mean? Who knows. Maybe a better way to describe my taste is that I tend to like stuff that has these elements: 1. High energy 2. Noisy 3. Strong hooks and/or melodies 4. Generally upbeat and playful 5. When it comes to albums, I prefer albums that have variety to the sound (not every song sounds the same) My favorite bands as a teenager were Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, and Mudhoney. I still like all those, but I don't listen to them as often as I used to. Nowadays, if I had to list my favorite bands, I'd probably go with something like this: Guided by Voices, Sleater-Kinney, Pavement, They Might Be Giants, Husker Du, The Replacements, early PJ Harvey, XTC, Gang of Four, Dead Kennedys, X-Ray Spex, Dry Cleaning, Talking Heads, Brainiac, Melt-Banana, NoMeansNo, Wire, Otoboke Beaver... OK, there's a lot. Here's my 100 favorite albums in case you want to get a sense of how weird my taste is now. How many of those albums have you heard of?
