It would be great if there were a way to copy and paste an external link (news article, etc.) and have a clickable thumbnail that takes you to that link. Is anything like this possible?

More like if I copy and paste an article from TMZ, it would show a clickable image thumbnail that will take you to the link.

You can use any image URL and link URL in the code above...
Or are you wanting a plugin to add that code snippet to the post for you?
