Makes me wonder if I'm just getting old, if my room is too dry, if I'm swallowing wrong in my sleep or what now. Its not an every day thing and I will talk to a doc. Just asking if it happened to anyone else.

Just asking if it happened to anyone else. If this is a frequent occurrence, that talk with your doc should happen soon. There are many things that can give that feeling, some of them can be very dangerous to your health. |

I'm glad you're going to ask a doctor. Medical advice online can be risky, but I also think it's fine to see if anyone has the same problem as you. Sometimes, my throat gets dry at night and I have woken up coughing on what seems like nothing. It makes me wonder if I'm a closet sleep mouth breather. I never asked anyone about it though as it doesn't happen often.

Hubby does. He has gastric reflux. Yep, back when I was deep in the drink it would aggravate my GERD bad, and some nights I would wake up choking on nasty acidic grossness that I'd have to re-swallow, burning my throat for the next like 5 mins. It hasn't gotten me since I quit drinking, tho |

If it is as simple as your throat being dry, have you tried a humidifier in the room?
If you already have a hydrometer, it can help you assess whether your room is wet, dry, or at a good humidity level.

Humidity is 46% in the room in question and it claims that's dry.

My hydrometer doesn't get out of the dry warning until it hits 50% in the room. I'm not sure what # triggers a humid warning, but I think it's around 70%.
