I'm not the most technologically advanced person, so I'm sure there's an obvious solution to this problem that everybody else knows about except me, but I might as well ask about it and find out what I've been missing out on. Say you're talking on your mobile phone while walking around your house, and you occasionally find yourself needing to do things that require both hands -- opening something, prepping a meal, etc. What's your ideal way of doing that task without having to put the phone down? Because the only options that occur to me are either putting the phone down, which makes it so you're so far away that the other person can't hear you very well (and vice versa) (yes, even on speakerphone), or awkwardly attempting to do your other task one-handed. I'm sure there must be a way people do this. Likewise, what if you're using listening to music on your phone or MP3 player and you need to use both your hands for several minutes? Do you just put it down and turn the volume way up? What if you want to use headphones with it? Say I wanted to prepare dinner while listening to music through headphones. Is there any way to do that that wouldn't require me to do the task with only one hand available? My first thought was that there must be some sort of thing-holding case that you can clip onto your shirt or something and place the phone/MP3 player in so you don't constantly need to dedicate one hand to holding it, but searching Google for stuff like "electronic device clips for clothing" isn't turning up anything useful. So if such an invention exists, either I don't know what they're called or the internet has yet to become aware of them.

Did you try surfing using the term cellphone lanyard, holster, or armband? I looked up "cell phone holster" and, after seeing the pictures, realized I actually have one in my house already. I got it from a family member recently. I thought it was just a case for storage, but on closer inspection I realized it has a clip attached, so it's pretty much perfect for what I need.
