we're surrounded by convenience these days, but it comes at a cost...how often do you use the services above? i used to use doordash and instacart VERY freuquently...there have def been weeks where I order DD/UE/GH a solid 4 nights a week if not more...probably more sometimes. i've tried to cut down a lot, and am sort of down to once or twice a week. i totaled up my monthly food bill during the height of my laziness and it came out to $1,100 a month in groceries, deliveries, etc for just 2 people....big yikes.
i must try to go back to simpler times lol

Yeah, the added costs are absolutely wild. I practically never use services like these because it's an easy way to make the total cost of something quickly double or triple. The sad thing is the driver doesn't see a lot of that money either. They get a paltry amount and otherwise see no more unless someone tips generously. It's okay for an occasional treat, but it's hard to justify its sustainability more often.
Still, I know people can have all sorts of reasons for doing delivery often. Good luck on continuing to wind it down!

I order my food online for delivery once a month, things like burger and chips, sausages, eggs, cornish pasties, microwave oven ready-meals etc, this costs me about £120 per month (about $150), add to that i get bread and milk from a local shop each week. I live alone so don't need a lot, the only time i get anything like doordash is when a family member visits we get a chinese meal from a local shop. If you can get online deliveries from a supermarket, you should be able to cut your bill by a lot, fid some ready meals, even the occasional pizza

I use to but I got three supermarkets within a mile, price chopper, Walmart, and aldis. For produce I'll go and get my milk and eggs and things like lunch meat etc...it gives me an excuse to get out for a little bit. I'll buy my milk at Aldis or Walmart. Almost $3 for half a gallon is getting nuts when I can drive a quarter of a mile and buy it for a doller less. I digress. Some stuff I'll order on Amazon if I don't really have a sudden need or if it's a good deal imo. Anymore I like hunting new products and trying things that are limited so yes it pays to go out and see what local stores have to offer still.

With Doordash there's an 80% chance that the driver will "forget" to deliver at least of the items you ordered. I don't trust them or any other food delivery service.

I used to use these a lot so I can get a pizza for myself at a local takeaway, but the cost of the delivery was SUPER expensive. So I just decided to start walking to the takeaway myself instead of delivery.

wild that pretty much everyone here has the same experience lol. they definitely screw up some or most of the order more often than they don't IME. it was always them forgetting drinks and sauces for me, then they deliver food that's lukewarm and slightly soggy and twice the price...during the depths of my laziness i guess it was fine lol but that is way too much money for subpar everything
does anyone live too far out and aren't within range of any of these?
now that would be wild.
my partner regularly orders from a store that's like 30 miles away
