While I am happy to do the former, the latter — asking for staff and whatnot — is not allowed here. If you need staff members, it's recommended that you promote from a trusted member already on your site, or a friend etc.

I will write a more comprehensive review when I am at my desk a little later, but for what it's worth initial impression is that I have no idea what the forum is about and I was unable to figure it out in 30 seconds.

30 seconds is, on average, the amount of time it takes a user to decide whether or not they want to continue looking into a website. If a user cannot figure out the purpose of the website in that amount of time, a majority of them will simply navigate away without bothering to explore different pages to try and figure it out.

Just some easy food for thought while I get my day going. More to come when I am settled in for work.

Multi-subject discussion forums are not uncommon.  I have been a member of several during my 30 years on the Internet and prefer them because they offer a variety of subjects instead of just one. So I chose to make mine the same.  Concerning the request, Ok. Your info is understood, so  there is absolutely no need for any further elaborations. Thanks for your time. Much appreciated. Here is one on Proboard with the same layout as mine.  Nobody there seems one bit confused and neither was I when I was a member..

your category color doesn't match your background or change the descriptions ( COLOR) to a darker text color of your categories, can't hardly see it unless you hover over to it when it turns white.
I see you have quite a few members so far, that's a good start...
The banner needs to be shorter in width, its too wide for such a small forum name.
