Anyone else hate Tumblr?

Before creating my forum at ProBoards recently, I tried Tumblr for a while, mainly because the subject matter (the game Sims 2) had a lot of people on various Tumblr sites.
I can't make heads or tails of the place. What I was looking for was a place to upload by custom content and make it available to players. I could never figure out how to adequately do that. Everything seems totally unintuitive.

I eventually deleted my account, only to resurrect it recently because without it you can't communicate with anyone there.

This morning someone messaged me and I couldn't find a "Reply" button. There was an option to Delete, to Block the sender, and a couple of others, but no way to reply. (Edit: Turns out a member has to "Follow" you in order for you to have any reasonable communication, or both members need to Follow each other, or something like that.)

Tumblr also seems optimized to be used with mobile devices, hence the many goofy-looking websites, which doesn't appeal to me either.

The first ten years of the internet, roughly 1995 to 2005, were great. Then "Smart" phones came along and millions of half-literate idiots who previously never touched a keyboard discovered the world at their fingertips. From that point on, everything started to get dumbed down to their level.
I suspect Tumblr to be an example of something that caters to such a low level of point-click non-intelligence that anyone with even half a brain is totally lost there. All I see there are countless colorful icons that I can click on, without having a clue what most of them do.

All of which is not to say that everywhere else things a peachy keen. A couple of weeks ago I perused the first 10 pages or so of this very Board right here and I'm pretty sure I lost some brain cells just from reading some of the thread headers.

This reminded me I haven't logged in for ages, so I went to take a look and see what it's doing now. In terms of functionality my dash looks mostly similar to how I remember and I don't have too much trouble navigating it. Honestly I had a harder time figuring out reddit the first time more than Tumblr.

I only recently joined Reddit and that place is a dumpster fire, except for a few small pockets of humanity.

The unfortunate fact of the matter is that once a person has a Tumblr account, they can access thousands of sites there, without any further registrations needed, whereas with Forums you typically have to create an account at each one.

Since going "Live" with my forum a couple of weeks ago, I've gotten all of three registered members, and I suspect they all already had a ProBoards global account. It's just not worth it for people to go through the trouble of registering at my Forum just to be able to solely access my content. The quality of my content is not the problem, as I had plenty of people downloading my stuff at the website where I was previously active.

Foregoing registration and simply allowing guests full access to my custom content would probably attract more people, but they would simply download what they wanted and leave, without leaving any feedback or any other interaction, and that's also not something that I want.

Never been a fan of its design to be honest. Never payed attention to it unless it was in the news or something massive was happening there regarding the art community.

Sometimes yes, it gets my articles views and hits, I belive 2 or 3 actually signed up for a few so that's a good thing other than that it's good for clicks.

I loved Tumblr in its heydey but it's clearly a zombie site now. Minimally staffed (+poor moderation, partially due to poorly implemented automation/low staff), annoying-to-use app, and the web interface is an archeological dig in terms of functionality/usefulness. A lot of the "older" Tumblr pages that are most useful (Archive view for example) is very heavily de-emphasized or outright hidden behind these half-baked new interfaces that inconsistently load based on whatever blog you're on.
