Need forum URL reset to default, lol

Forum URL: carxmoddingforums.boards.net/

So this is my first time setting up a custom domain on ProBoards ever since Google sold to SquareSpace, unsure if it's my doing that the url "https://carxmoddingforums.com" doesn't work, or if it just takes a very long time it to be up and running... but oh well, that i can solve.

However, I did put the forum into maintenance mode after the URL was paid for and applied, but the issue is that the "staff login" really wants to redirect me to the .com URL, which can't be accessed, so I basically locked myself out of my own account with no way to login to the forums and edit it. If a staff is able to, would you please reset the URL to the default .boards.net until I am able to get everything properly set up this time?

In the meantime, are you able to login to your domain management and check that the settings are still all correct.

I did check on my SquareSpace settings, I used Nameservers as the forum is brand new so no point to preserve old content. ns.proboards.com and ns2.proboards.com are put in correctly, my DNS is also set to "pb.forumcustomdomain.com", I'm unsure if having both of them (DNS and Nameservers) set to use Proboards settings would somehow cause a conflict, however.

I did indeed try CNAME! it still says "unable to find server" sadly. Nameservers are using the "ns-cloud-b1.googledomains.com" (cloud-b1 through 4).

Maybe I just have to give it a load of time...? Either way, hoping a forum URL reset will fix it temporarily so I can get to work on editing it ;D

I've reset the default URL so you can log in to the forum with the original URL (https://carxmoddingforums.boards.net/)


Now regarding the CNAME entry, the screenshot you provided doesn't look right. When creating the CNAME entry the values should be:

Type: CNAME
Name: @
Target: pb.forumcustomdomain.com
Proxy: DNS Only

Also, with a CNAME entry, you don't want any other nameservers in use/listed.

As for everything else you said, I don't seem to have those options on SquareSpace. All I have are
1) Host
2) Type (CNAME)
3) Priority (which is greyed out)
4) Data.

Also, I am forced to use at least 2 Nameservers using SquareSpace, which are the google domains I mentioned earlier. I am not a fan of SquareSpace in general, only using it due to Google Domains merging with it.

EDIT: Also, I am unable to login to my forum. Hitting "staff login" tires to redirect me to the login page but then just brings me back to the maintenance mode screen. Is there any way you're also able to disable maintenance mode? What a cursed forum so far lmao

ih8usrnamez - when logging in, make sure you are doing so with the main admin account (username: admin).


Regarding the nameservers, are you able to change them? If so, make them:
ns.proboards.com
ns2.proboards.com

and delete the CNAME entry.

I am unable to log in at all. When I hit "Staff login here" it brings me to a "Redirecting..." page and then back to the Staff login screen. I was able to copy the URL before it redirected me, pasting it in shows me this

And yes, I am able to do as you said, I am now using custom nameservers and deleted the CNAME entry. I guess I will wait and see if that works!!

Oh my hero! thanks Scott. Last time I tried to log in to my account it was asking me to use my E-Mail instead. Got it working now ;D thanks for your help, I guess I will come back in a day or so after I give this domain DNS settings time to catch up and see if it decides to work then.

Alright hi again! I may be a bit impatient but our URL is STILL not working! trying to access carxmoddingforums.com/ yields a "server not found!" error. It's all set up according to you on SquareSpace and just due to the hassle I'd love to avoid transferring my domain to somewhere else. Is there any way to trouble shoot what is the issue? whether it be ProBoards for some reason not wanting to connect, or SquareSpace config?

also, I do set my domain to "https://carxmoddingforums.com/" but my forum is still accessible from "boards.net" and that's where everyone browses it from. Does it take awhile to update?

Hello. Thanks for resetting it, but the website worked fine even when set to the ".com". There is no way for me to know if it's working if it isn't set on the forum, as otherwise there'd be nothing for the URL to go to.
