It's really fascinating how you can see the rapid decline in activity just by looking at the post counts in the "Birth Months Boards" category: 2015 Board: 1.2 million posts 2016 Board: 441,000 posts 2017 Board: 160,000 posts 2018 Board: 565 posts 🥶 I can understand a forum's activity level declining over time, but the drop-off between 2017 and 2018 is massive, from over 160k posts to not even 1k. Wondering what happened to cause that. Exactly! It's so weird. And now it's just scattered spam. How did 12,000+ people decide to stop logging in to their forum home? I don't know. The admin hasn't been active on ProBoards Support either, but her last posts here and on her own forum didn't indicate she was closing the forum. Totally guessing here, but I suspect one possibility is that they migrated to another platform. Maybe Facebook, maybe Reddit. It's possible a forum wide email or personal message was sent to all members informing of the change.

I suppose I'd just expect to still see some goodbye messages, or even people logging in who didn't receive the email to ask what happened to the place. Every ghost town forum holds their own mystery.

I've been part of the Chicago Korean Drama Fan Club forum since 2005 and I believe it was created in 2003. Only has a small fraction of the activity it used to have, but we still have a dozen or so active people and some more who check in infrequently. We've been watching at least one series continuously for a long time, usually one episode per week. I was made a mod in 2008 and am the only mod still very active, unfortunately. But our little group still enjoys watching new and old shows, and the forum has become a terrific resource for information about those shows. And some of us aren't Korean (I'm not), how about that. So yeah, still plugging away. deiner.proboards.com

My board has been around since 2005, so we're definitely part of the old guard still existing today. rpg-unlimited.boards.net/
