Custom domain not working?

My custom domain is not working? www.appleforums.au doesn't go to the free forum?

How do you have your DNS set up? And generally there isn't a "www" in custom domain name as the www is actually a subdomain.

CNAME www pb.forumcustomdomain.com.

At your end:

www.appleforums.au

Is the subdomain I am using.

While www is technically a subdomain, it isn't in the way it links to a forum.

Are you using appleforums.eu with another website? Or are you wanting it to link to your forum?

Appleforums.au is not linked to anything else - would be good to have it linked to the forums.

How do I remove www at your end?

errorwin - I've made the change on our end, but you need to edit your CNAME so the host no longer www but @ instead.


Also, I'm seeing appleforums.au coming up as appleforums.au/lander

For some reason, GoDaddy doesn't allow me to use @ for CNAME records - says I have to use www or another subdomain.

Also, the lander is the parked page for GoDaddy domains that comes from an A record with @ that goes to "Parked". I've deleted it.

Is there a way to use A record with @ to point to an IP address instead? GoDaddy allows that.

For GoDaddy, log in and go to your DNS page, then click on Nameservers.

You want to change them to use custom nameservers:

ns.proboards.com
ns2.proboards.com

These should be the only 2 listed.

Ok I have changed the nameservers.

errorwin - not at the moment. Looks like with all the changes it's taking a little time to propagate out through the internet.

Thanks. Right now it's saying "Failed to open page" when I go to the root domain.

errorwin, yeah you'll need to use the default URL until the propagation completes.

I’m getting this error now. But may be a matter of waiting longer.
