For weeks and days now I have been bullied over and over and over on my proboards about advertising and I have stated reasons why I do not want advertising on my forum and still I get people bulling and harrashing me trying to say they "been running their proboards for 15 years and knows what works" and "If I don't allow advertising then no one will join" and blah blah blah I just want to know if your the type of person that bullies and harrases and gaslights other forums for not allowing advertising on their boards then your a mean person and need to be banned from proboards forever. I am sick and tired of being bullied and harrashed every fking place I go like you don't like I don't have advertising on my forum then oh messing well go somewhere else that allows it and advertise on there. Period!
I know this ant the right board for it ,but thought people needed to know to respect what other people allow or don't allow on their own forum.

I don't allow advertising on mine either. I did for a while but I personally saw very little benefit from it so I mainly stick with affiliates & word of mouth.
It's strictly a clicks thing. Posting links to your forum on a legit site increases the trust search engines place on it to not be spam or scam, and mistakenly people believe that volume will net them more members due to higher SEO -- but higher SEO is still not a substitute for content.

I never thought about that before! good point! ive always leaned on the advertising side, but maybe ill try other things!

Oh yeah same here I had to go through my other site not to long ago because some bot had posted like mature spam all over my site and I was like crap I hope no one clicked on these links or saw this stuff because it was bad.
That and right now it is just me so I don't got the time to go to sites and try to navigate their site to advertise and I just don't feel like having a bunch of advertisements on my site
I am glad that I am not the only one who doesn't want advertisement on their forum I wish others would understand and respect my decision. I literally had to tern my guest friendly stuff off on my site cuz they wouldn't leave me alone.
Not to mention scam and bots is o the rise everywhere so I want to protect myself and future members. I don't know about you ,but I get messaged by a million bots a day from phone alls to emails to art sites I am on ect. It's exhausting to try to keep up with it all.
And yeah I saw little benefit from advertising on other proboards as well and I been a member since it first started. Word of mouth helps and old friends asking to come on it helps and posting here helps . So that's all I wanna do right now as far as advertising goes.

I let established members put links to their sites, socials, or whatever in their signatures. That's fine with me. I do not and will not ever have a section for link spamming or advertising. That will only encourage more spam. I don't feel like it benefits anyone. You don't want a forum full of spam, and people aren't that likely to click on those links anyway. So, it doesn't seem to benefit the person posting them either. One other thing I do allow though is if someone needs help developing their site or wants feedback on their design, I'm okay with people sharing a link in the tech board since it would be a tech support question.

Yeah I always hated it because most sites you try to advertise on in return for them posting on yours has like a " you must be .A,B,C" to post here and I am like you posted your ad on my site I am going to post mine on yours. You know?
But now a days I am just sick of seeing spam and ads literally everywhere so if I don't want people posting ads on my forum that I want others to respect that. And I agree links from members and in siggys are fine I don't mind that and yeah it never benefited for me either. I just post my ad here and leave it at that.

Advertising my forum is limited to my socials through my website - and I have left that for now because registrations are switched off due to some unsavoury characters looking to interfere. It's not good when members of a forum try to bully someone into advertising the forum. There's no call for that at all.
