Do you ever go pumpkin picking? There is a farm near me called Pumpkin Hollow. Acres of all kinds of pumpkins and squash and sunflowers and gourds. They have them picked and sorted and priced on hay wagons and provide little red wagons to haul your selection around. The flowers are "pick your own". It's all paid on the honor system ... a rare thing these days. I bought butternut, buttercup and acorn squash there this year after having a bit of a squash family failure because of weird weather. Some of the pumpkins were incredibly beautiful and some were soooo ugly but people were snapping them all up. |
