What Would You Do with a Spare Million in Cash?

Hello support community,

Imagine receiving a sudden windfall of a million in cash. How would you choose to spend or invest it? Would you pay off debts, start a business, or perhaps embark on a dream vacation? Maybe you’d put it towards education, charity, or even a new home. I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas! What would be your first step with that extra million?

As an old married man of 50 years coming up and me and the wife over 75 years old a nice holiday would be the first thing on our minds then pay off any debts then make sure our son & daughter were ok, maybe donate a bit to cancer research as me and the wife have lost family with the Big C over the years.

Retirement is a big goal of mine just turning 64 in September, so I would definitely see an advisor!

Caajscot (John), I used to think that living in Scotland was like being on a permanent holiday. person, the key to a long life is to never stop working. Of course, a healthy diet and regular exercise also play important roles.

Basically my answer + paying off my debts.

I'd squirrel some aside for one reasonable fun purchase for myself and my husband.

With the state of the American health care system being uncertain at the moment, I'd be putting it into a high yield savings account, and making sure I can afford medical treatments until they are done.

bigballofyarn Become a health tourist. Arrive in the UK, receive treatment through the NHS "free", and then return home. Health tourism in the UK is thriving unfettered.

I'd still have to pay for flights and a passport. Flights back and forth would be more expensive than treatment here.
