Do any of you graphic designers put you're artistic minds elsewhere besides the computer? Like for community projects or drawings.
For me, Most people at my school, as soon as they hear a project that involves drawing, they all look at me. I also do drawings for posters and such for my school. I also draw characters in my free-time, when I'm not near a computer to photoshop.

Of course, as I am also still in school I use whatever artistic abilities I may have to organize myself (yes, I'm geeky like that I like having a neat binder and schedule) and as with you, everyone also looks to me to draw up concepts for projects/posters/diagrams. I used to draw cartoons...back when I used pencil and paper Now, it's mostly digital for me XD

Lol, yeah, well I wish I had a tablet, to transfer my ideas from paper to the computer without the pen tool.

I do own a tablet (it's actually my mouse) But, I lost the pen for it I've only used it once in a program called Corel Painter, it is pretty easy to use and I think works just like pencil & paper XD When I had it working, I used to draw cartoons and stuff...thinking I could animate them somehow I've got to get a new pen, though

Yeah, 4x5 is kinda small... (4in. x 5in.) still usable, though I have a 6x8, but I use it as my mouse too. It is kind of a pain to lug around with me, since the thing is about as big as my laptop (thinner, and a lot less weight) but still large XD

=P Yeah, I might buy one, 4 x 5, xD I might... I saw some tablet users, and they have like 10 x 12 or something. That's like big >> Costs $3000. >> I'm not ready to invest that much money into a tablet just yet. =)

My actual art style reflects my graphics design style, to be honest.
Tablets - I've got one at home, but I just haven't got the hang of it. It seems to take a very small stroke to make a very large line, when I'd prefer the opposite in fact. Don't know how much it cost though.

I've seen regular ones sell for $100-$500 and the professional ones/big ones like $1000-$3000.
Yea, my art style, I guess, reflects my graphics style too.

Other projects - Yeah, I draw a lot. Haven't done anything that big in a while, save for an RP character of mine. Been taking art classes since I was 5-ish, so about 10 years.
Tablet - Yup. Got a Wacom Intuos2 12x12 tablet for Christmas. It's really nice to not have to scan something in and color it that way - I can just put my picture under the overlay and trace it. Next thing is to work on stopping my hand from shaking so much.

I've done quite a few designs for the school newspaper and some posters for my friends. I didn't really put much effort into any of them, since I'm selfish that way XD
I don't really need a tablet. I just draw it on paper, scan it, and use the pen tool. I find it easier that way since I am not very accustomed to using the tablet pen.

I don't tend to really help out with artisticy kinda things cos I'm not the greatest artist - I can draw pretty accurately but that's more or less the extent of my knowledge. However, I am helping the school out with an arts website and I could well find myself designing an entirely new school website as well. I think I'm also supposed to be doing a new website for my local archery club as well. Obviously I'm doing all this for free at the moment but really I just want to get some experience so I could start designing for money.
