Gimp is a good program for starters. But after awhile you will want to switch over to Photoshop. I'm not saying that Gimp is a bad program cause it isn't It is better then Photoshop in some aspects (Not paying). but yeah you will want to use Photoshop sometime.

Okay. Well yeah Gimp is a great program for staters. but since you have been doing graphics for awhile i'm guessing. Gimp is also good for finding your own style.

Photoshop is a better, more powerful and (in my opinion) easier to use program. I would try to use that rather than Gimp. You could possibly try using both though. Gimp is a good free program, and is different to PS. Good luck though

Well I'll try and make some staff sigs ;D
Anselm, I'll use both of those programs. It's really my choice if I wanted a program or not
I wanted GIMP when I asked my stepdad for a new Photoshop. He said it was expensive. I asked for Paintshop and then I chose GIMP. He showed it and when I heard it was cheap, I decided to get it ;D

Personally, even though people call GIMP the "starter" program or w/e, that Photoshop has a much simpler and better interface. GIMP is extremely confusing with its multiple windows, etc. If you have PS, just use that, not GIMP. That way, you get used to using PS and learn what it excels in and where it doesn't.
