I did this all by myself (as in no pre-existing image, I followed tutorials though). What do you think? Honest opinions appreciated. Made with the GIMP. http://i71./i159/kmylove/galaxy.jpg

Quite good! I like how you used the Flame filter to make the galaxies (I'm assuming that's what you did), and the stars look very realistic. The rings in the lower right hand corner are an interesting touch, but the edges could use some softening up. The yellow thing in the top left corner...I'm assuming it's a large sun? It seems somewhat out of place, being so large while everything else is on a different scale.
Overall, I like it a lot, good job.

It's nice, but possibly a bit too empty for a wallpaper. The way the two galaxies overlap slightly looks a little strange as well. They could have been put further apart, which I think would have helped the image overall.

You have way too many stars in there and they're too evenly distributed. Try cutting back on the stars and clumping them. Rendering cloud layer and then setting it to multiply will give you some clumping. You did a nice job varying the brighness of the stars though.
Also, I'm not really feeling the light sources here. The piece doesn't flow with the light sources you have given it (top left and bottom right).
Overall, it's alright, but nothing amazing.

The yellow thing is indeed a sun, I know I lack a bit of sense of proportion but I'm working on it. It's nice, but possibly a bit too empty for a wallpaper. The way the two galaxies overlap slightly looks a little strange as well. They could have been put further apart, which I think would have helped the image overall. Thanks for the tips Renegade I'll definitely improve this aspect on my new one. You have way too many stars in there and they're too evenly distributed. Try cutting back on the stars and clumping them. Rendering cloud layer and then setting it to multiply will give you some clumping. You did a nice job varying the brighness of the stars though. Thank you Zilla. I'll work on creating more realistic stars. I'll remember the light tip as well, it's really helpful.

Very nice. Only thing is there are too many lens flares in there. Nebula/vortex thing is too bright, i think. Planet looks great, maybe just blur the edges a bit.

I made so many light effects trying not to have it too empty. The nebula turned out so bright because I applied a light effect on it, trying to make it look like the light source.

I think the new one is a big improvement. The stars look a bit like snow in the top left though. I really like the planet, if that was also done without any premade images then that's great work.

Thank you I think they got that look from too much light in that area The planet was done from 0: lots of filters and layers
