I see an improvement by putting this in a table. It isn't as as annoying now but still shouldn't be there. I suggest that it should be at the bottom and making two columns so that way the table looks more flat.

OK, so we won't be able to move the welcome table anymore. I can live with that. I don't use the welcome table at all. Still a problem Patrick? Important question for my ideas too

Will there be an option to still have the 'most recent topics you have participated in' but still keep the longer ads instead of the square one?

I also like the new table and now get that the welcome table is staying put. However, would it be possible (read: permissible) to join the welcome table to the top of the ad box to integrate the welcome table into the ad box more? That doesn't affect the relative position of the ads but it would just make some layouts look better. Possibly putting the standard style welcome table (banner & menu) on top and then, say, a PM bar below the ad box? That would, at least for me, make the ads less "plonked in the middle" of the forum and just simply integrating them with the forum while keeping them as visible. That may be possible since the position of the ad would essentially remain unchanged. I would say if this code is made to run it by me for final approval. Patrick

How will the members who are using the Menu inside Banner code, go about using this feature? The way I have my forums set up, this will mess everything up. The links are in my sig if you need to see what I'm talking about.

I understand ProBoards needing to keep the ads so they are noticeable, thus the move welcome table code is a no go. For having a free site, I have no problem with that but mind you I"m not doing a tap dance. So since the "move welcome table below ads" is against TOS because is it actually moving of the ad upward. (I think we all knew this to be the case). So if moving the ad is against TOS then removing all welcome table info would actually be moving the ads upward. Adding a huge banner in the welcome table would actually be moving the ads down. Putting a banner at the very top of your forum (top:0 left:0) like some sites have is moving the ad down. So is it actually against TOS to move the ads or would a better way to say it is it is against TOS to move the ads anywhere else besides directly under the welcome table menu buttons? I do commend ProBoards for giving us two options. In my dream world it would be wonderful if there were more than a couple options of what size ad we have and the placement of it. Like do we want it left, right or center aligned so at least it will look good no matter if you use right sided tables or left sided or no tables. If it is set to be left aligned then it will only work well for those who have right sided side tables. I do love the recent topics but connecting this option with the ads just seems weird. So if we want recent topics we have to choose this ad format? Also having a "new topics" as a menu option and then "recent topics" in your face, so to speak, just seems unorganized to me. Our thread viewing options are spread out all over the place and is making me dizzy thinking about it. We have view the most recent forum topics in the info center. Within the boards we have options to list the threads by who started it, last post, etc., (which most members don't even know about these options so they are basically wasted). Now we have new topics and recent topics in different locations. If you ask me, all these options need to be pulled together into one location so each user can set up what they want to view on a daily bases and if they want to view something by topic starter they can reset it in this central location. Everything seems so randomly added with no thought to the big picture, so to speak. (Sorry) Mind you, I appreciate ProBoards giving us the options they have, thus far. I love having a free forum and whatever it takes to keep it that way, I can live with.

Also, you didn't give any input on the people who don't use the conventional welcome table. Are we still breaking the rules? I don't have the move welcome table below the ad code that I've been able to find, but my ad is still at the top of the forum. The entire forum is simply below the ad. Is this also a violation of TOS?

Was just thinking. What's this going to do for people stuck with dial up? They would prolly be complaining right now but they're still waiting for the page to load ;D

Seeing this again, I really do not like how it looks. I tried to, but it just ruins the page. Also how long will it follow a thread I posted in? Thanks for the option of use or no use. It also sounds like I need to go remove one of the codes I have been using for a while. If it is no good, it should come out of the database.
I am dialup. The page is loaded, but it looks nasty, because I also have my page set on largest text size. There is way to much junk at the top. Not talking about the ads, but the recent threads and directly under that the rules. I do a good slide just to get to the board.

Even with the table I fear it would end up messing with my site's layout completely. Thumbs down from me still.

I doubt I personally would try it (I'd probably put in a code request) but I'm sure welcome table/ad box remodel codes will pop up sooner or later. It might be worth adding a note to the Code requests FAQ (or wherever) that such codes would have to be checked by PB staff.

I usually like ProBoards new features, but not this one. Yesterday it looked tacky and today it looks too much like an eyesore. I don't like the large size of the table, maybe if it was the size of the forum it wouldn't be so bad but right now it's long, and most of it is empty and it just looks bad. This is one feature that just isn't for me.
