It's offensive because it's pretty much saying: "If you're not Christian or Jewish, screw you." Um, no, it's not. It's saying, this is what the majority of this country believes. They are not forcing anything, on anyone.

Its a free country, all religions should be equal in the court of law.

Nothing you said right there is true. Really... [sarcasm]Im sorry, I do not study religion, nor do I study philosophy of religion, nor am I studying youth ministry.[/sarcasm] I suppose everything I have ever studied is wrong then? There are four major monotheistic religions and Jesus is seen as a prophet in few religions. Christianity and Islam being the only major religions that I can think of.

Learn what communism is before commenting on it. Plus, religion should NOT be in the way of a country / government / laws. A religion is its own branch, SEPARATE from country affairs. Why do you think we had the middle ages? Because the Church did what it did. Are you kidding? You're being quite ignorant you know. You're speaking of the Catholic Church-it's not just the Catholic Church that has the 10 commandments . . . Learn what the difference between the Christain Church and the Catholic Church before commenting on it. Communism is something FAR FAR different to religions. So dont compare communism with religions. Ever. I know what communism is better than any book can explain it. Why? I lived in a communist country. Where did I mention the Catholic or Christian Church? I merely stated what the Church (in GENERAL!) did to the countries and the progress of that time. Or should I say regress?

I am counting Judeo-Christian as one, but if you prefer, we can split them into two. But they both worship the same God (technically anyway). However, I will tell you now that alot of religions hold Jesus pretty high up. Most of the magor religions do. Hinduism hold him up as one of the 'gods'. Islam as a prophet. Christianity as God. Jehovas Witnesses as a 'god' (not supreme God). I believe Sihk (spelling?) also hold him up pretty high, And so does Budhism.

Buddhism and Hinduism simply see Jesus as a reincarnation. Jehovas Witness is a denomination of Christianity. Christianity believes him to be the son of God, not a God, a part of God.

Of course Communism has nothing to do with religons-because it didn't tolerate any.The only church at the time of the Middle Ages was the Catholic Church, so when you said "What the Church did in the Middle Ages" the only possible church you could have implied was the Catholic Church.Again, I will repeat myself: Tell me which Commandment offends you, out of the 10?

Um, yes, I did add Islam. Read again hun. Hinduism does indeed regard Jesus as a 'god'. And Budhism holds Jesus as a reincarnation of Budha (as far as I am aware - I shall have to double check this lil item).

Actually technically separation of church and state IS in the constitution of the united states of america.Read the first amendment .It states Congress which is the state shall make no law on the establishment of religion or the practice their of.So technically separation of church and state IS in the constitution of the United states.

They are not forcing anything, on anyone. Agreed. I can tell that the 76% of the people who voted for keeping the 10 commandents right where they are, is definently true. It seems 76% of the users posting here definently do want the 10 CommandmentsSo I'm asking you-why should 9 Judges have power of 76% percent of the people? This is one of the few reasons why I hate the Supreme Court . . . lol . . .

Because it is up to the supreme court to decide what is constitutional, and unconstitutional .To have one religion without the others would be unconstitutional.it would be like their were saying this is the only religion the state will allow. That is why the first admendment is worded like it is .

Why does religion belong in the government at all? I don't want religion anywhere near the laws of the country I have to follow. Basically that would be saying that you have to be religious to expect fair treatment in our legal system if they were based on religious beliefs. The law is the law...and is a government function....it has nothing to do with the church and needs to stay that way.

The law is the law...and is a government function....it has nothing to do with the church and needs to stay that way. It does not force you to be religious. Not at all. And neither should it treat you unfairly. If it does, then it is the people in charge who are in question, not the law. Then again, I should remind you that all governments are put in place by God. So whether the rulers are Christian or not, they are there by God's will.

I think it was him.I do know of the the supreme court justices said it.Isnt sure exactly which one, i read it along time ago,but none the less .. which ever one said it .They were 100 percent correct.
