I enjoy the conversations here. I like that it's intelligent and opens my mind to versions of things that I hadn't thought of and to topics and other things that I don't generally bother to think about, well some of them anyway . As an ex-chatter, I like a little 'free' speech and innuendo every now and then, but I also hate to see really good discussions go down the potty mouth drain. I think a little monitoring is good and certainly any site that is not closed off to younger members, such as General Talk, needs a little censorship. I come back to General Talk when I have time because I enjoy the response from members and learn something new. Our words can become weapons here, if they begin to sting, there is a system of recourse but if we limit the scope or language and overlook common sense we all miss out on unending possibilities. I say draw the line, but draw it in lightly. Does that make sense or am I just babbling again?

I sort of understand what you are saying, we can have fun with what we say but don't cross the line.
We could say " Let go of my hose" as an inuendo, and it wouldn't be frowned upon.

I think you're always babbling to some extent. =P
But you do bring up a good point, some people just don't know when to stop with a thread online, or don't know when they've gone to far. On top of that, there will always be the "leet kiddies" who are to hardcore to care what anyone else thinks, and they will flame away.

Banned: Don't Spread Lies
That includes: "Martyn threatened to delete all my forums" "Martyn has banned me from all of ProBoards" Lies, Lies, Lies, Lies, Lies
However, if you want to continue claiming this, it WILL come very true

I think it makes sence. Yes minds are intellegent, and we sometimes have to open our minds to others.

I think a firm line needs to be drawn as to what is and isn't acceptable, and enforced in the same way for everyone.

I've noticed several times where it seems like a member of the forums gets off the hook on breaking a direct rule because they may be friends with a mod or something like that.

I (will) take things from a moderate perspective if there (will be) are any political battles on my board, and won't participate in those. As long as the discussion remains intellectual, I will allow it to continue. Once it becomes full of rants and riots, though, it's time to lock.

(Rene was used as an example, just because he replied here)

I'd answer that if I knew what you were trying to say:P I dunno if you were being sarcastic in that reply but I think he meant it: Would you be more lenient to someone you know in real life on a forum compared to someone you didn't know in real life on a forum? And I think he meant it as a reply to ASE's post in this thread.
