Peopl dont get the Main Issue of this .Its not should same sex marriage be legal or illegal. The state should not make a law that say they can nor should they make a law that says they cant.It should be up to each individual priest or judge. If the choose to perform said ceremony, and use the works and ceremonies dictated by law, or the church. Then two people are Legally Married. If the individual priest or judge does not want to do this. They same sex couple can find one who will. This is not hard to understand. If you are married by someone who legally can perform a marriage. Then you should be married . While the state can make laws based on the rights given by marriage, surely the state has every right to decide the legality of any form of marriage? Separation of church and state is fine other than that it doesn't happen. Marriage is more than a religious ceremony, it's a legal bestowal of rights, and there is absolutely no reason why gay couples should not have the same rights as a married couple.

I dont think you got my point.I believe in the two rights god given, and legally given .These rights are as follows:
1.The right to choose your own path.Your right to freedom of choice. This right should not be tread upon by any means what so ever.
2.The right to be treated the same under the law, and the church as anyone else.We all are human beings.
If a judge or a priest chooses by their own free will that they will marriage a same sex couple. Then that is up to them, the couple and their god .or their moral back our what ever.It is up to their own sense of what is right and what is wrong.God even said you make your own salvation.Which means you are more or less alone in choosing your lifes course. No one has the right to interfer in that life course.Unless you are violating other laws, such as murder etc.If you bring no harm to anyone , physical harm ,or mental harm.Of course some religions will be offended by this, but if your not off that said religion. They should have no say .
This is the point i am trying to make. This is the only point that matters period. The rights of the Individual, to choose their own course in life, as long as they are not hurting other people, or infringing on the rights of others in the process.

However if the government writes a law stating that gays can not be married... Then they do not get any of the protections that a married couple have under the law! If one of the couple is dying, the dying partner's family CAN prevent the living partner from having anything to do with the medical decisions. And even worse the family can PREVENT the living/well partner from even visiting. EVEN if they have been a coupe for decades, it all disappears. If a partner dies, there is no grantee of anything. The surviving partner does not automatically get anything! They could loose their home, auto, nearly everything!
