I never really notice the improved graphics they all look the same to me. Every video card seems the same to me. I am happy with NVIDIA cards as I feel that they get the job done and seem to be realiable. Really who cares about Video Cards when within 10 years or so there are going to be 3D holographic images and such coming out of things and the computer moniter will be out of date, along with the keyboard which will be replaced by a microphone which responds to voice commands. One day something is going to be better than a computer it is only a matter of time.

Some of you may have read about the Asus 7800 GT Dual GPU video cards. Two of them in SLI would provide a Quad GPU SLI configuration with 1GB of video memory, producing unrealistic (and sort of unstable) gaming power. The card is finally out: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121213Now, if you thought that is awesome, take a look at this: www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=195Seems to be 2x 7800 GTX's 512 MB pasted together, and allowing two of these to run in SLI would produce unprecedented video power. 2GB of video memory (which is more video memory than most people have RAM!), 96 pixel pipelines, and 5.2 Teraflops of total computing power. By the time I could afford that, there would be something twice as good out. That's the only thing I don't like about how fast computers are advancing.... -Rolex

I read two months about that card and the FPS in The Chronicles Of Riddick were impressive and so was the noise it made. So two (effective four) of those in SLI would wake the dead.

Its quieter than two 7800GT's but still noisey (dont have figures) and imo would suit a watercooling block. The review I read gives the card 79/100 which is not a massive score considering the price and specs.

Here's the thing - it's not worth spending $1800 on that right now.
What games do you know of that utilize that? And how many do you know of that will come out in the upcoming months that will utilize that power? None, or very very few. It may be fun to brag about, but what will make it so different from an x800 or 6800 until games come out that can really use that card to it's best? Getting 100FPS over 60FPS? (frames per second)

The card would make a great HTPC.
You could scale movies probably double that of regular HDTV and then output it to a TV in HDTV, the quality would be the best you would ever see!
But thats only if you can find a decoder that uses the graphics processor and not the computer processor.

Can I ask why you would even need 2GB of video memory? There's no games about that would put it to good use and I very much doubt there will be for quite some time because very few people are going to be able to afford a set up like that.
You can say it "pwns" Consoles all you like, it may well do in the way of specs, but console users are enjoying smooth and fast game play with excellent graphics for a quarter of the price that the average PC user is spending to get the same results. So who's the real winner?

There's always the Asus Dual 7800GT or the 7800GTX 512MB regular

I got a 7800 GTX when it first got released and it's already becoming obsolete. I'll have to buy one/two of those at some point. If for nothing else, for major bragging rights. ;D
