I was born and raised in Alaska, and up there all I had to do was drive 15 minutes from my home to purchase as much Fireworks as my little heart desired. I grew up on that stuff, it was great. We always had parties and did fireworks for the 4th of July and New Years.
Now, however.. I've been sorely disappointed to find out that you can't buy fireworks in the state of Vermont. This has really put a damper in my 4th of July for the simple reason that it's not as fun to watch fireworks as it is do to them yourself all night. I'd understand if it was a burn ban or something due to dry weather.. but it's not.
So, I was wondering how many of you are doing your own fireworks shows tonight? Or even if other states have the same regulations against them?

My state doesn't allow the sale of any fireworks that make noise (for the most part) which leads to people going to other states and bringing them in. My town's fireworks aren't even on the 4th anymore, which is okay I guess, we have one of the best displays in the state. I myself will be doing my own firework show, but all I could afford this year was bottle rockets. In years past I've put some neat holes in the ground with some stuff.

I considered the option of driving to another state to buy them.. but with gas prices as bad as they are right now I had to reluctantly tell myself that it wasn't worth it (no matter how much I wanted them ). Hope you have a good night ^-^ Bottle rockets are better than nothing!

Here in Texas, when you leave city limits, there are trailors full of fireworks for sale everywhere! They have them year round but the last few weeks they have become more and more common.
I probably will not do any because I will be in city limits all day, so probably just watch some.

In Michigan there is a restriction on what kind of fireworks you can have... However if you want the "illegal" ones all you have to do is get a pyrotechnics license. Then you can legally purchase, transport, posess, and use any fireworks you want.
However people would rather take a chance on getting a ticket, having their fireworks taken, and even arrest by aquiring illegal fireworks.

My state has laws against any cool fireworks, so I'll just be watching the city show tonight.

There are no regulations from the state, but our town doesn't allow personal fireworks since it's mostly developments around here, and could disturb the neighbors with the noise and lights =x

Nope, my city doesn't care about fireworks, but it's too humid and rains every four seconds, so we can't do fireworks.

Pa can legally sell them but it is illegal to set them off. therefore everyone in NY near the border goes to Pa to but fireworks. They have been setting off fireworks here for at least 3 days. As long as nobody gets hurt its OK with me.

I love in Vermont, so I can not do anything tonight! But I used to live in Jersey and we would buy some in PA & set them off in our back yard =]

They're illegal in Maine. However I think the community has an unwritten agreement that on the 4th we won't call the cops if you have a private show. Heck, if you can get it past the Nazis at the New Hampshire border and past all the nosy cops you deserve to play with your Chinese sky candy.

I'm glad the 4th is over. But I'm sure the fireworks will go on until people blow up all the ones t hey bought.
My dogs went nuts all night with the constant explosions.

I worked today. I was worried all day that some idiot would break the no fireworks law here and burn down my neighborhood. I am glad as well that it's over with There is some idiot redneck that lives semi-close that blasts dynamite every year though It's loud and shakes my house even though he lives miles away
