The member on my board who is having this same problem doesn't use Vista. She has XP. She does use IE, so I'm thinking there is something going on with the settings folks are using on their IE browser. Hey there johnny Came to that conclusion a while ago. But what setting? That's the problem. I am yet to experience this myself, so i can't really test it, but some setting in IE has to be causing this. Like i said, no changes have been made to the proboards software between when people have been accessing ok, to when they can't, so i have to rule that out. Any of yous guys guesses really are as good as mine right now Are there any similarities between ISP, location, what shows on the board, ads? codes?

Thanks for the favs tip.
I am the admin at 2 proboard sites. One I've never heard any problems from. The other I've been getting messages from members unable to get on, redirection to the Home Page. I've relayed the info about the Favs. and am awaiting to see if this helps them.
I will let you know if this works for them.

mine just started today for me and some of my members with codes in Glob and Main H&F's, the site locks up with IE6, removing codes from Glob and Main H&F's but leaving codes in boards and sub boards will make it go back to main page only with IE6, XP or Vista doesn't seem to be the prob, or any other browser dumping cookies & files doesn't help searching the sight and going in thru a search engine doesn't help we have www.net links and same problem coming in thru those links I have had 4 forums for over 2 years, almost identical, with same coding but different images and only 2 of the sites does it with IE6 the other 2 doesn't - strange The only way IE6 will work is if you pull ALL codes out of the forum, including board and sub board headers - I've tried to isolate it to a certain Header or Footer codes and that doesn't work we have alot of members that get on the puter at work and their puters only have IE6 so they can't update to IE7 or any other browser so, it is creating a problem as far as traffic on the sites anyway that is what I have experienced

I have been having the same problem on two different boards - if you have followed all the tips & are still having probs, try this - it worked for me: 1. Close browser 2. reopen browser 3. type board address in your browser address bar, but leave out the number - e.g. musohead.proboards.comThis solved the problem for me on both boards I was having trouble with.

It comes and goes on my board . . . I'm glad to see that others are having the problem and that folks are working on it. I'll check back - we've got too many different folks with too many different browsers reporting the same issue for it to be a browser problem.

Well finally a suggestion that actually worked....*grins* I did what you said...copied and pasted the url instead of going through my favorites and walla....I was in and working. Has to be something in the software that has gone wrong...cause I have never had that problem before. Thanks for the suggestion that provided a fix. Nothing in the software changed from when you didn't ave the issue, to when you has the issue, so for something to go wrong in the software is not viable. In addition, this problem only happens to people who use Internet Explorer, and doesn't affect any other browser, and even more strangely, it doesn't affect all people using IE. For weeks we have been trying to figure out why this is the case. Sounds like someone has hit on a favorites problem - which is interesting. Did this problem start for you guys immediately after you added the site to your favorites? To answer your question no. All sites were already saved in my favorites. I went so far as to delete my browsing history and all that and it seemed to work for a little while then messed up again. So I did what fishguts suggested I went to each site deleted the link from my favorites and then re-saved them and it seemed to fix the problem for now. Tanya

Same problem here but mine started about 5 days ago with my PM's. When I had a new PM and would click on it, it wouldn't go through and would redirect me to the main page. Now all the links are redirecting to the main page. Eddie birdguy888.proboards52.com

Have you tried my suggestion, as above? This is still working for me. The problem occurs when I view the board with the server number in the URL, but not when I view it without the number in the URL. Does this work for anyone else?

To answer your question Craig.....I have ALWAYS had my boards on my Favorites...never had any problems before until yesterday. I did delete the board from my favs...and added again. Seems to be working ok now.
I have always used IE....so if that was the problem...it only happend to me for about 3 hrs or until I deleted and readded to my favs.

I visit my forum everyday using IE as my browser and using the link in my IE Favorites that has been there since December 2006. Did not have redirect problems until today, 10-8-08, after downloading the September 2008 Microsoft Windows Update patches. Earlier today, previous to downloading those patches, there was no problem. After downloading the patches, rebooting, then returning to my forum via IE Favorites, the problem of redirecting popped up. Coincidence? Deleting the forum URL from my Favorites, then rebookmarking after typing the URL into the browser is working so far. Thank you for posting this solution.
