I have had this same problem on my board since the update to v4.5. I had thought that it was because when you make a new board, all the codes from the main/global footer are put on that board by default. I would go in and delete them, and everything was fine.
That is until a few days ago. The problem started happening even when I haven't made any changes at all. I use IE, have Windows XP and had a link to my board in my favorites with the indexcgi? at the end of the url.
I've deleted that link from my favorites and used the suggestion from Dinah to replace it. So far so good, but we'll see.
Oh, and in reference to mittens suggestions that maybe it has something to do with doing a Windows update, I haven't updated my computer in quite some time. So it's not that for me at least.
I really hope the mystery can soon be solved. It's frustrating having to go to the forum, click on a board, hit stop, click on a thread, hit stop, etc. in order to see what's been posted. That's been my solution for the past few days. After awhile I don't hit stop, and let it load and it's fine. But it usually takes awhile, and that's still a pain.

Someone suggested that the flashing ads at the top could be causing a problem, as they had noticed the problem goes away when the ads are 'still'.
Interestingly, when I access my board with the number in the URL, it has a 'Funeral For A Friend' ad at the top that flashes/changes - and I have the re-loading problem, but when I access my board without the number in the URL, it has a 'still' ad and I don't get the re-loading problem.

Deleting from favorites and retyping the URL worked for me, but only after I closed the page. Those still having problems may want to be sure they have done this first.

Well, I wasnt having the problem earlier when I mentioned this, only some members of my boards were. Since then seems like alot of us are now having the same issue. Not using the favorites link seems to work but like anla said only if you close the page and start fresh.
Hope something can be figured out soon! Thanks to everyone for the help so far on this.

I created my forum on 10/4 and immediately added it to my favorites list in IE. I have had no problems accessing, moderating, creating etc using the Fav link until this evening. I too experienced the redirect to the main board like others. I tried refreshing, deleting cookies, temp files, and re-booting to no avail. I was however able to remedy the problem thanks to a suggestion from these boards by opening the activation link from my e-mail. However, I plan to start inviting fellow group members to my now active forum and would like to know how to handle this issue since I think most people are like myself and use IE and the favorites list for links like these. I also think it is odd that the problem dind't exist until after about the 50 or 60th time I used the link. Please feel free to ask for more info if needed. Thanks!

A handful of my members have been complaining about the redirecting to the main page issue for about three days now. I'm using firefox, and am not having that problem. I've directed my members to follow the instructions laid out thus far in hopes that it will fix the problem for them. Thanks for all you guys do, Craig. You're really awesome!

Still having the same problem goes away for a few mins. using both Firefox and IE I do notice that when mousing over members that visited today it has text that says the javascript is void...does that on trying to go to a new member same thing when mousing over javascript is void...there HAS to be a glitch somewhere IMHO and I do appreciate all the advice given here...BUT I have tried everything and cannot stop it from going back to index page...and like I said before the page NEVER truly reloads completely as it says Waiting for and my Proboard URL..sometimes on Mozilla it loads and says Done...but on IE once or twice it did then reverted back to STILL acting haywire...hopefully tomorrow others will figure out the problem. I did manage an Email to all and they are having problems also..but strange 1 guest got to post but couldnt register...strange indeed...

Well bugger me. I've been having this problem too. Only started today. I did the following (as per advice on here)
Copied the address of the board. Went and deleted it from my favourites. Opened a new window and copied the addy in. That worked for me.
I've emailed all my members and I hope it works for them too. Here's hoping. Will keep you informed if any of them also have problems.
Cheers
Lisa

Still not working here and we have done everything. We have to keep copying the addy in and it will work eventually.

Polled members this morning 14 attempts to get on - only 1 using Vista. even tried hitting sub-boards from IE history files & all redirect to main page. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!
