Whats wrong with the Girls Gone Wild ads? What I hate are the cheap commercials .. like what local stores do... man there so cheesy.. and poorly made.

If you're going to be watching TV at the late hour like that, then obviously you're going to see those types of ads. I've watched SPIKE at 4am and seen those ads. That's the ONLY time they can run those, so I doubt little would ever be done about it.

Inappropriate ads started appearing around the same time parents stopped watching TV with their children.

Whats wrong with the Girls Gone Wild ads? What's *not* wrong with them? They're absolutely disgusting and it just goes to show how much men like it when women completely degrade themselves for your pleasures. "10000 naked college girls!" or "finally 18!" just says that young girls in this country are being influenced in the wrong ways for the wrong reasons. Personally, I find it extremely sad that anyone could possibly find these ads, and the behavior displayed in them, acceptable, entertaining or a turn on. wildmaven, I think you're absolutely right. About the same time that kids were allowed TVs in their own rooms as well. I never saw crap (and I mean that in the nicest way possible without getting a slap on the wrist) like that on tv, and my brother and I used to stay up late all the time.

You know.. I thought that after dinner last night, it would be nice for my boyfriend and I to just hang out in the room and relax, watch some TV and get ready for bed. We ended up watching Ron White on Comedy Central, which is fine because it was late enough for them to be able to swear and not get bleeped out. And then the frustration starts.. because every other Ad on TV is either for Girls Gone Wild or Extenze. Is America so focused on sex and things to make it better that *every* commercial after hours has to be about the two? I find it extremely disturbing that I can't sit down with my boyfriend to watch TV without feeling uncomfortable and even a little angry. And it's not just Comedy Central that does it. We ended up watching MXC on Spike and the *same* exact thing happened. I saw ads for things I can't even talk about on GT without getting a warning.. on public television!! Is it really too much.. too out of hand? Or am I just overreacting? I have satellite television. Most of the channels like that come in on an east coast feed. So things that should only be shown later at night come on in the evening. Good thing I don't have children here watching Comedy Central at 7:00 in the evening huh?

I've seen that GGW ad so many times, I am so sick of it. It was good the first time, the other 1,000 times it sucks. And its been the exact same one for years. Usually during commercials on late night comedy central, I flip the channel over to VH1.
It's not a big deal though. The commercials are only on past 10 PM I believe. They never show them during the day. But I do see a lot of the erectile disfunction commercials during the daytime and though totally serious and appropriate, I really rather not hear them every other commercial.

She wants to be a " wild girl" when she grows up.

I love watching some shows on Comedy Central, but have to change the channel when the commercials come on just so I don't have to watch it yet again. I've come to notice a lot of commercials related to more mature content are coming on earlier and earlier in the evening. I'll be out in the living room watching a show with my mom, say 8 or 9 o'clock, and the trashy commercials are already starting. There's still young kids watching shows at that time and should not have to be subjected to those kinds of commercials. But on the business-side of things, I can see where this sort of advertising would be good. I just don't like it.

I am from the UK so I am not familiar with GGW but can certainly identify with the way late night adverts have changed over the years.
I am not an old fuddy duddy nor am I a prude but I find it pretty sad the way it has become acceptable for ads to become more and more explicit over the years.
Human nature has not changed so why has the content of the ads?
I sometimes feel different tv companies are trying to outdo each other in how outrageous they can be. They call it "pushing back the boundaries". I call it seeing how much smut they can broadcast and get away with. Sorry if I come across as a Mary Whitehouse type (UK members will know who I mean) I am far from it but I am sick of ads becoming more and more overtly sexual.

Those are the type of girls that have a large appeal, too. From a business standpoint, again, it's a good marketing ploy, but a vast majority of people find it simply silly.

This is why I stopped watching TV in general. Just being reminded of the hypocritical, over-exaggerated and sex-driven wasteland called "American Culture" makes me want to claw my eyes out and drown myself in a bucket of iodine.
