That is quite the open mind you have there, Iota. I do not really believe in it but I am not positive. I do not know enough about the subject matter, even having read the article, to make a decent choice. i just have a more, down to earth and realistic view on life. I don't suffer from paranoia and i'm just here to live my life. Then perhaps you shouldn't be so concerned with how others live their life if you are just here to live yours?

I do believe there are "puppet masters", but not in the traditional conspiracy theory sense.
Are there big businesses and lobbyists hampering the development of future technology such as free energy? Keeping the price of medicine high? Using governments to infringe upon civil liberties? Creeping beyond a mere company, and instead entering the realms of become a pseudo-government themselves (such as Tesco Villages)? You betcha.
Hidden, underground organisation? Probably not. I hope not, anyway. It's bad enough that the relatively unrestricted market brings about the looming prospect of a quasi-Corporatocracy.

I find it funny that the creator of this thread (forgot his username) asked us:
And yet he continues to argue with us on our opinions. It would be fine if he tried to persuade us a little, in my opinion, but why is he completely telling us that we are wrong? I happen to like some of the musical artists that are, supposedly, parts of the Illuminati, and I happen to like the Mona Lisa. No one has proof either way so what is the point in arguing? Sure, some people pose weird, and other wear rings. They are just trying to bring back fads in my opinion, nothing serious, and are wanting to be unique. I doubt that they are conspiring against us all .... well, maybe Hannah Montana but Jay Z? Next thing, you will be telling me that Shakira is an Illuminati! And that Elmo is too along with the infamous Spongebob!

In my personal opinion, I think that conspiracy theories have roots in something that is technically true. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's all going to be true.
For instance, I could just come up with something off the top of my head and consider that to be the truth. Something like:
The governments of the world make up all of the conspiracy theories in order to keep the populace busy and unaware of the true movements of the governments that make them.
It may not be true but on the opposite side of the coin it may be.
Honestly I think that conspiracy theories are a neat little something to lose yourself in and entertain yourself for a couple hours. I do not believe that you should devote your life to proving that one, or more, could be true.
There's always going to be somebody out there that can take a piece of circumstance and turn it into "evidence" supporting their theory.
I could ask: The symbol of "The Eye of Satan" is a pyramid with an eye. The Egyptians built pyramids and two of their Gods had well known eyes. The Eye of Horus and the Eye of Ra.
So the Illuminati were secretly Egyptians hoping that the Pharaohs will once more rise to power and become the new world order.
That's not even something thought out in depth, it was just something I came up with sitting here typing this reply.
Conspiracies can be something to enjoy if taken lightly and like everything else in life, with a grain of salt. Likewise, they can be taken too seriously and cause all kinds of trouble.
Just thought I'd put my two cents in there.
And...as a side note...
Wewt...first post. >_>

Also there doesn't seem to be much proof of anything. That is obviously why it is a theory At which point I stopped reading. Do you have any idea how irritating it is to read the word "theory" used so ignorantly? >_> How is my usage ignorant? 1. a coherent group of general propositions used as principles of explanation for a class of phenomena: Einstein's theory of relativity. 2. a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact.3. Mathematics. a body of principles, theorems, or the like, belonging to one subject: number theory. 4. the branch of a science or art that deals with its principles or methods, as distinguished from its practice: music theory. 5. a particular conception or view of something to be done or of the method of doing it; a system of rules or principles. 6. contemplation or speculation. 7. guess or conjecture. I am using the word as defined on #2... If the word is used correctly it is not ignorant. I can not prove to you guys any of the stuff I have posted. I can only present to you what I consider proof from my research on the matter and you have to form your own opinion. I find it funny that the creator of this thread (forgot his username) asked us: And yet he continues to argue with us on our opinions. And that Elmo is too along with the infamous Spongebob! I am not stating you guys are wrong. I am simply attempting to provide proof and reasoning as to why I believe it all to be true.. You are of course titled to your opinions and me to mine.

The Free Masons exist, I know this because a member tried to recruit me.
Anyways, the Illuminati do exist. Sad most people don't understand nor are willing to see that there are people out there that would do horrible, nasty, secretive things for their own gain. "Popular culture" which I would think you're talking about movies, has given any organization that really does exist, a reason for people to think it's a fairy tale. If that were not the case, they would not have allowed it to air, as they are supposed to control almost everything.

Anyone who pays the slightest attention to politics already knows this. However, there's a difference between people who exploit for personal gain and an entire world order.

Get a group of those people that exploit for personal gain and you have a future organization that wants a new world order. They have spent a lifetime doing this. I know because the Free Masons go back before their was official Presidents in the USA, so they have been making secret organizations for a long time.

If that's true, then count my friends and I for some seats in this new order. =D If any of these groups do exist [and it wouldn't be hard to simply create a group and call themselves the Illumnaiti], they don't exist in the way that people might perceive them to be. I'm not one of the privileged few, but I can say that if there was a world order right now, things would be very, very different. Basically, the Illumnati kinda suck at what they do, if they exist. >.>

Without a shadow of a doubt in my mind, you will see a rise in a new world order in the next 20 years. If not more facts coming out rather then theoretical rumors. What you choose to believe doesn't mean they do not exist. Nor does it mean everything you think is untrue really is untrue. Let's be more specific as to weave out any possibility of poor sarcasm. Psychotic men and women who thrive on the weaknesses of other people to gain something out of pure pleasure just so they can get what they want. Even if their desire kills people. Their desire steams out of every inadequacy they possess because they believe that we can have a better life from a New World Order. I don't think you fit that category. And if so, you need therapy.

The Free Masons exist, I know this because a member tried to recruit me. Thats pretty much a given, as there's hundreds of chapters in the UK, and probably the world (my knowledge of international freemasonry being a little short) - all members of my family are/were Masons, though i'm not sure if i'll follow in the tradition or not.
