1) What is the URL to the page you were on when the bug occurred? www.tunesandspoons1.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=pm biglinmarshall.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=pm2) What happened, in detail? Everytime I try to open a pm I get this AddonChat Pop Up! I live in Germany and it gives the message that I would translate as: The Digital Signature has been Verified! Do you wish to employ it? Addon Interactive client2.addonchat.com3) What do you think should have happened instead? I keep clicking the pop up away instead of downloading it, but it always comes back! 4) Can you reproduce this on every pageview? Sorry I can't do screen shots. 5) What browser, version, and operating system are you using? Firefox/ Mozilla/ Windows7 6) Please attach a screen shot (JPG or PNG -- not GIF or BMP) if it is relevant. In Germany it's in German.

Sorry, Can this thread be moved to the appropriate section? I'm using Internet Explorer because with Firefox the nasty AddonChat pop up is always popping up at the 2 forums I mentioned. I had no problem with this forum using Firefox. Apparently the AddonChat pop up terror is blocked here!

A mod or staff member can move this thread later today when they see it. Does the issue (temporarily) go away when you use the link I provided?

A mod or staff member can move this thread later today when they see it. Does the issue (temporarily) go away when you use the link I provided? Hi RedBassett! When I click your link I get the notice "You have specified an invalid action". It seems like whatever the problem is it's mostly on Big Lin Marshall's forum. An admin suspects a virus and suggested I deinstall and reinstall my firefox browser. That's why I posted in this section. When I use Internet Explorer to visit Lin's site I get the notice or warning that Oracle of America wants me to download their program, which I refuse, but the warning keeps returning! The firefox browser seems messed up on Lin's forum and I always get the AddonChat pop up terror and a new window is opened up on Lin's forum each time this happens!
Maybe your link neutralized the problem at the "News, Tunes and Spoons" forum, but I can't open up new windows there now, unless I click an offsite link on the NT+S forum. That's much better than pop up terror! Other members are unaffected by the problem there.
Thanks for your time and help! I guess some Spy Ware is trying to zero in on me. I'll go to an internet cafe and check these forums out later. This forum is totally unaffected by the problem. pb support probably blocks spyware intrusion or bugs like this from the start.

This forum is totally unaffected by the problem. pb support probably blocks spyware intrusion or bugs like this from the start.
Just wanted to first note that the Support forum here is protected the same as every other forum we host. For the original issue, however, addonchat is the company that provides the live chat box for your forum. If you are still getting the pop-ups, you may want to contact addonchat's support here. Also, the live chat system provided by addonchat requires Java to be installed on your computer in order for the chat to work on the forum. Java is provided by a company called Oracle. If you visit www.java.com/en/ you will see Oracle's logo in the bottom-right hand corner of the website. With the above mentioned, however, it appears that your addonchat account may have fell inactive anyway, so if the live chat is not used at all on your forum, it may be best to just disable the live chat altogether which should take care of the issues you're experiencing. This can be done by clicking the "Live Chat Settings" found in the bottom-left hand corner of the admin panel. On that page, you can either click the "Remove Account" link, or set the "Enable Live Chat" option to "No"

I posted the wrong link, sorry! (I have updated it above)
I know it is mentioned in you original post, but can you take a screenshot of the issue? Do you have extensions installed on your browser? Can you provide a link to the page that you are directed to regarding "Oracle of America"?

Can you provide a link to the page that you are directed to regarding "Oracle of America"? Hi Red Basset I've never taken a screen shot in my life! I need instructions for dummies on that! I get an Internet Explorer pop up on BigLin's forum that warns me ( in German, I live in Germany ) that a website outside of the protected area wants to use my Internet Explorer program to download it's program. I refuse of course. Internet Explorer identifies the website as Oracle of America, Inc. and gives the incomplete discription Java(TM )SE Environment runtime 7 U... This notice or warning always comes back on Lin's forum!
Thanks a zillion for the link everything seems normal at Tunesandspoons now. The spyware or bug or whatever it is is still very active on Big Lin's forum. Could you make a link to cure the ills there too?

The link for the other forum would be biglinmarshall.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=pm&NOHEADERS=1, however I do not expect this to fix the issue, simply to check if the problem is being caused by coding. Does the issue still occur, even if you get to the page the normal way? Added to note: As mentioned below, Ricky's post should solve the issue, so I would be surprised if that linked fixed anything.

Anna, just in case it was missed, you may want to take a read of my post above RedBassett's as it explains everything.

Lin has a shout box on her forum, but I never use it and to my knowledge have never downloaded anything from Oracle of America, Inc. or AddonChat. I suspect they are one and the same. This AddonChat pop up that I get on Firefox is virtually identical to this image that I googled up. And of course when I visit Lin's site with Firefox I get this pop up with AddonChat nonstop.

The issue is one in the same, but addonchat and Oracle are two separate entities. Since Addonchat uses Java for their software, you would likely receive a pop-up about it. But if you visit Addonchat's support here, they may be able to assist you with how you can prevent the pop-up from displaying

Thanks RedBassett! You're link stopped the pop up terror! There are still some irregularities on Lin's site and my PC gets rattled there so I may have to go to internet cafés to visit until the problem dissipates.
Maybe the fact that I live in Germany a Microsoft stronghold and Lin's shoutbox is run by Java is the source of the problem. I have downloaded a few Java programs, but I dislike the aggressive pop up terror that AddonChat and Oracle of America seem to be guilty of and will thus refrain from downloading their programs and using Lin's shoutbox.

Microsoft refers to these sites as outside of the protected zone. It could be just business competion. Still I get very irritated by any site that intentionally or unintentionally bombards my PC with pop ups. I noticed these pop ups appear at the internet cafés in Germany too! These particular Java pushers sure have a lousy PR approach in Germany at least! If I attempted to post in the shoutbox at Lin's and got the pop ups I would understand that this was Java's sphere of influence, but the pop ups came everytime I changed a page at Lin's! Really infuriating!

Hello, The problem could be that the site is using the default integration of AddonChat with their ProBoards forum. The Authentication (RAS) has not been updated to use the digitally signed applet of the chat therefore this might be the cause of the java pop-up error. Could you try our demo chat at addonchat.com/demo.html and let us know if you get the same pop-up error?
