Hello,
I'm looking to move my Yahoo list to ProBoards. Questions:
- Is there a setting for moderators to moderate individual members, i.e., to block a member's message from posting to the board until a moderator has read it and approves it?
- Do I have a choice on which features to use, e.g., can I disable smileys, avatars, videos, etc.?
- Would I be able to move my Yahoo archive to PB?

Hi, 1: While there are various moderating methods you can use on the forum, unfortunately a feature does not currently exist where a moderator has to approve a member's post before it's posted on the forum. If there is a particular reason you would like this feature, it's possible that we may be able to suggest other methods for you? 2: There are many features you can choose to disable on the forum if you would like, some of which can be found in the 'general settings' area of the admin panel after the forum is created. For features not listed in the general settings, often times there are 3rd party codes that you can add to the forum to do a couple of things that you mentioned such as disabling smileys or avatars. You can check out a list of codes available to use in our code database here. 3: Unfortunately it's not possible to migrate your content over from Yahoo. Probably the best thing you could do would be to link back to that Yahoo list from your forum, then close that Yahoo list from further posting (if possible) to use it as an archive. From there, you would then continue with your community with ProBoards Also to mention, since you noted that you're thinking of switching from Yahoo, there are currently a couple of incentives that we're offering for those that move their communities to ProBoards. These incentives include receiving 3 months of our ad-free service for free, which means your forum won't see any advertisements for the first 3 months that your forum is active. Also, if you have your own .com domain name, we can link that up to the forum for you with the first year free as well. You can find out more here

1. When a member is discourteous to someone else we moderate them so it doesn't happen again. Moderators have the capability of approving or rejecting their messages.
2. I checked your code database and didn't see one for disabling avatars but I could have missed it.
3. OK, we can get around not moving our archive, as you say. I guess I would be able to provide a link to our archive. Members use it often.
Can we move our members to PB? We have 2,300.

1: ProBoards has a warning system that allows you to apply a warning level to member's profiles. This gives your staff visual clues as to who potential trouble makers are on the forum at a glance, since the warning level will be displayed along with each of the member's posts on the forum. From there, you can develop a system letting members know that if they reach a 100% warning level, they'll be banned from the forum. This would help prevent repeat offenders. At the user level, there's also a code in our code database titled "Ignore Members" that could potentially be useful as well. This will allow a member to ignore another member's posts on the forum if they don't particularly like what a certain member posts on a forum. This would help future disputes between certain members. 2: The code is titled "Disable Custom Avatars" -- found in the Profile Hacks category of the code database 3: I'm afraid we are not able to migrate any data, including members. Those part of your current Yahoo group would have to create new accounts on the forum once it's created.

OK to all that you've said. I'll get started. We are a more formal forum than most. All messages are just straight typing with no colors, videos, flashing lights, smileys, avatars, etc.
