I remember SSD and always recommended people to there for anything design related. That was the past and they would be in the hall of fame if Proboards had one. lol

Why did they close? I was a guest-lurker myself, but it's always sad to see a good forum shut down. There are still some that I'll lurk on for nostalgia's sake.

Everyone lost interest and got busy, honestly. Staff had no passion, members were few... just not a good combination. Good times Was there any place that gave better times in your 11 years (as of today) at ProBoards?

SDD was a lot of fun, and without being a part of it, I doubt I would have took the programming router as a career. And then there is you...

I think they could make an epic come back with v5 I thought about bringing it back, but I can't get in touch with UC who has control right now. If anyone can get in touch with her or knows how, PM me please.

Facebook sucks, requires too much personal info

Facebook sucks, requires too much personal info I thought I was the king at making typo's Peter. lol Facebook does not suck, like mentioned earlier, you can enable different settings to make it more private. I created a group for just family members by invite only where we talk about family issues, planning another reunion...etc I've recenting created a fan page but need to work on designing images for it since I have a new blog theme. I'm going to use my page to interact with my followers and hand out special offer's to get people to promote the page. Why don't you start a programming fan page. Eh, i'm running low on idea's as the coffee is not ready yet. I just pop into proboards once and awhile, to busy with other duties online to hang out here. If SSD comes back, I so want to be there.

wow havent been on proboards in a few years...like everyone has been saying, people (from that 'era') just moved on from ssd and proboards altogether to carry on with their lives in the real world. instead of logging on every day, you'd check in once a week and eventually the activity died. the on going debate was who is responsible for the forums activity: the staff or the members. you couldnt really place the blame on anybody for the decline of the forum, it was just its natural course.
I had a short tenure as admin along with kay. then eventually the decision was made to hand it back to uc and the forum was put in MM. uc was one of the most brilliant people I got to know here and she had very logical reasoning for putting it in MM.
Artemis was truly talented at The Herald and kept that major asset of SSD alive almost single handedly til then end. so many other great memories but I don't want this to turn into a memorial service.
if i still had permissions on ssd, I would just leave it in archive mode. there were tens of thousands of posts that were hidden for whatever reason that should be public.... but what made that forum great was the caliber of designs from its members. some of the best work on proboards passed through the critique board, the photography board or coding board and I wish all that work could still be on display.
dx5, webaddict were two others i frequented. ahhh the good ol the days.
