Forum Takeover

I have recently taken over as admin/Forum Owner for pete389.proboards.com/index.cgi, but I think there is still an issue. The old admin is still listed as the Forum Owner, and still has admin powers. How can I make him a regular mamber?

Also, I don't seem to be receiving any emails from ProBoards when a new member registers so I can activate their account.

Hi Jim,

If the owner is willing, we can do a transfer of ownership here on the support forum. Simply point him in this direction and after we verify his current ownership of the forum, we can get started with transferring the ownership over to you.

Because the main admin account is currently the only account on the forum that can have 100% moderation powers, the transfer of ownership will allow you to take over the main admin account after the transfer has been completed

Well, I PM'd him back in March, but I don't know when he'll post his info.

Is it just me or do the default avatars look a little like Aang for Avater: The Last Airbender? The cartoon, not the movie.

While you said you sent him a PM, have you tried emailing him? It looks like his email address is visible to members if you view his profile directly here while logged in. This may get his attention faster

Well, that didn't work. The email bounced back. I guess we'll just have to wait & see what happens.

Thanks for posting. I have confirmed ownership so we can continue the ownership transfer process. This is done with the following steps:

First, jimb, visit the terms of service and let us know whether or not you agree to the terms outlined there.

After the above has been completed, 90redsc, login to the main admin account on the forum and delete any PM's you may have in the inbox, outbox, and archive areas of your Private Messages. Once those have been cleared, let me know and there will be no further steps for you to take.

Once the above has been completed, let me know, and then we can finish the last half of the ownership transfer process by linking the main admin account to jimb's global account so he'll have access to it

This has been going on since March. There doesn't seem to be any indication from the precious owner that he has deleted his PMs. Is there a way that I can delete his PMs & take over ownership?

I hate to resurrect an old thread, but I'm going to do it anyway. Is it possible now to change my status on my Forum from "Administrator" to "Owner"? Probably not, but I thought it would be worth asking.

Our policies in regards to ownership transfer have remained mostly the same. However, both the admin and the user they're transferring to must be present throughout the process for us to initiate an ownership transfer.

You'll need to get in contact with 90redsc again if you wish to gain ownership of the forum. At that time, feel free to create a new thread as this one is now 4 years old.
