Strange behaviour when clicking notification bubble

Note sure if it's a bug or not but one of my global mods has reported that when he clicks the notification bubble he is taken to the Admin Control Page.



When he clicks the notification tab there is no clue as to why.



It's not happened to any other member of staff. He is on Win 8 & IE 10.

That notification bubble is for the admin area. There are either reports or members to approve. For notifications in the profile there will be a bubble on the profile tab.

None of the other staff (me included) get taken directly to the Admin control page when clicking on the bubble - we get taken to our profile notification tab. This one staff member though has to go to his profile/notifications tab to get to the 2nd image in my first post.

On the admin tab, if you click the bubble it will take you to the reported posts [or what needs attention]. I just confirmed this on this forum. It took me to the reported posts. Are you sure that you are not clicking on the profile tab and not the admin?

DOH! 

I never noticed before that his bubble is on his admin tab. He wouldn't (or shouldn't) have any admin notifications, only personal profile ones. The forum isn't set up in a way that admin notifications would be required but if they were surely they would go to all staff? Seems like his bubble is hovering over his admin tab instead of his profile one and because of that it's taking him to the admin control page.

Is he a moderator on any boards? If he is, then any posts within those boards being reported will lead to him being notified.

He's a global moderator on all boards but there have been no reports, no members requiring approval, etc. I've never seen a bubble over the admin tab (that's maybe why I never noticed it before - didn't even know they showed there as well). The only notifications he should have got are all personal as shown here



The notifications are correct, even if there are too many and keep increasing, it's just they're above his admin tab and not his profile tab and sending him to the wrong place when he clicks on the bubble.

I would have thought he should only be needing to see mot-testers.proboards.com/user/122/notifications. He also made the point that:-

which referred to the number in the bubble

The confusion initially was mine Brian - I didn't notice that the bubble in the screenshot was over the admin tab.

The bubble should only be there for personal notifications. It appears to be related to admin notifications, of which there were none. Upon clicking the bubble the mod was taken to the admin control panel. He's the only staff member who has seen this bubble above the admin tab, the rest of us only get our normal personal ones.

I believe a member reported random admin notifications popping up before, but didn't make a thread in the bugs board.

Do you mind making a bug report with a link to the profile of the member in question? Also, ask them not to click on the Admin notification bubble when it appears so we can look at it internally while it's present.

Another helpful thing they can provide for the report is a screenshot of their notification settings to ensure there's nothing checked that shouldn't be (although the issue likely stems from an actual bug and not their settings).
