Forum URL: bkvpsport.proboards.com/I have a table constructed using BBCode which has always appeared with lines on the old forum. It has appeared minus the lines on the new v5 version. How can I get the lines back?

Hi On the reply posting page, when selecting to insert a table, you should see an option for cellspacing. Try selecting that to 1.

Bob K With version five, you get to tell it what border style you want. How thick, what color etc. So its just a case of editing the following to suit your needs. [table][tbody][tr][td style="border: 1px solid #000; padding: 3px;"]Row 1 column 1[/td][/tr][/tbody][/table] hope this helps. you can also edit the table width by adding [table width:"400"]

Many thanks Craig and welshling.
EDIT It does not seem to allow me to apply these retrospectively to the table that has carried accross from the old forum.

Hi Welshling
Yes, I had already worked out how to produce a new table thanks. My problem is in attempting to add to the existing table. It will not allow me to add the bits I want. I could construct another table, but was looking for a speedier solution. Thanks for taking the trouble to visit the forum and post the information. Really appreciated.

The [td] styles should work, but Welshling's width was specified incorrectly. [table style="width: 400px;"]

Brian rofl my bad, lazy typing xD If you want to add more rows and colums its just a case of repeating the [ td ] [ tr ] tags [/ td ][/ tr] What are you trying to do exactly Bob K

These were present on the v4 forum but have translated accross to v5 minus them. I therefore am trying to amend something that is already there under the old forum to display as before with the new one.

The first and second rules of forum.css pretty much breaks your V4 tables since they get rid of borders by default whereas in V4 borders were the default. Creating new tables now explicitly adds border if desired but all your user posted tables from V4 would be effectively broken unless you go back and edit every single one of them to add the border (both on the table itself as well as on the individual cells) which could be a lot of work depending on how many tables we're talking about. An easier alternative might be to use a CSS rule to fight the two CSS rules now bullying your V4 tables. Adding the following to your themes' style sheet should get those older tables back to their familiar appearance .item .message table:not([style]),.item .message table:not([style]) td:not([style]) { border: 1px inset; border-collapse:separate; } Note: Since I just constructed the selectors literally minutes ago it might need to be tweaked also it won't look exactly the same since there are other factors at play. For example since V4 forums rendered in quirks mode most browsers defaulted to a color of gray instead of inheriting forecolor for table borders. You could specifically add that color to the rule but I am guessing that would actually be viewed as a welcomed change.

That is very helpful Eton Bones. I now understand why I was unable to do what I was attempting. Fantastic. That has done the trick.
